Dancing has certainly changed since my era. A pity. It would be nice if there were a dance hall in town.

Is the film Casablanca good? The Tumbleweed calendar says that's what's playing on Movie Night, this coming Monday.

Um, it's totally a classic. What era are you from exactly?

The year was 1947, before I was portaled here.

Then you'd recommend it?

Geepers. No Internet for you then, huh?

Sure. It's not my fave, but it's on a bajillion top 100 movie must see lists.

Heaven's no! Telephones were the usual means of communication, and these devices that we carry around with us in town hadn't even been conceived.

Well then, what would you recommend?

Yay! I remembered some history. Kinda.

Thelma & Louise.

The dancing changes with time. I have found that most of it is a bit unusual.

I remember Casablanca being good, but I haven't seen it in a long time.

Unusual is not the adjective I'd use, but yes. The music as well! Are there no more big bands?

I have Mondays off from work, so I thought it might be something nice to do, for a change of pace. They show it outdoors!

There were clubs where they played that sort of music, but I'm not sure that there's one here. Eliot might know where they have them.

Oh, yes. I have seen (and heard Eliot sing songs from) a lot of musicals since we got there.

As far as I can tell from my inquiries of locals, there aren't any clubs in Tumbleweed, but I'd be very curious to know what your friend Eliot might have to say.

Oh! Casablanca is a musical? How delightful. I'll look forward to that!

There's one with dancing, but I don't know it. But I'll ask Eliot if he knows.

It isn't, no. I just mean that Eliot has a fondness for musicals and so that's most of what I've been exposed to. Especially musicals with puppets.

You and I could go find a place to dance. Perhaps we could shock Mr. Waugh and actually know a place before he does.

We could do that. I imagine he would be quite surprised.

The ticket price is very reasonable, and I understand the atmosphere is informal. A delightful sort of activity that you might take a lady friend to for an evening.

This modern so-called dancing is more like spastic movements to the beat. It's disappointing, I must say.

If I may ask, do you dance?

More like sex with clothing on, if I'm being honest.

Ballroom-type dancing, yes. I never learned how to do the Charleston or anything like that.

Quite. It leaves little to the imagination. I was deeply disturbed upon watching somebody perform a move, which I was later told is called 'the twirk' - I believe I got the name correct?

The Charleston! It went out of fashion before my time, but I still learned it, good fun. I'm more adept with more of the swing type dances, such as the Collegiate Shag and Lindy Hop, but I also know how to waltz and do the fox-trot.

I don’t think I’ve heard of that, and I don’t think I want to.

Yes, I learned the classic sort of dances, or those that would be considered classics in this era. Swing was after my time though, I think.

Five dollars, which I think is very reasonable.

Is that critique based on your own personal preference, or is it as dull a movie as you suggest?

I can swing ten bucks. Thanks for letting us know about this.

I mean, I've seen it more than once? Aria digs anything pretty much that they'd show on TCM. And it's kind of considered a classic. The types of movies I liked growing up don't exist in this universe so you got to make due.

No trouble at all, young man. I do hope you and your friend enjoy yourselves.

It must be difficult for you. At least I still may watch movies and listen to music of my era, if I do the right amount of digging.
