They really need to work on their welcome wagon in this place, cause listen: I don’t know where anybody else came from, but in my neighborhood, if a guy grabs your arm and sticks something into it? You deck him and hope whatever it is don’t slow you down much. I could only manage one outta two, so hopefully my brothers’ll still be proud. Wherever they are.

Speaking of, where the hell am I? Besides the obvious, of course.

Course I did. How was I supposed to know he was an it, and made of metal?

Not disapproving. And fortunately they can phase, so no harm done.

Yeah, I don't know if this one was faulty or something, but he was a bit slow on the phasing. I guess I can't complain, since he wrapped my hand after, but I want to, anyway.

Punching metal's gonna hurt a bare fist. Not much anyone can help about that. Their medicine is pretty good here though, so it should heal well.

And hey, it's not a terrible place to be. Here, that is.

Maybe, but it's not like they took the time to explain what was happening before I wake up with a needle disappearing into my arm.

No? Good. All this excitement got me all nervous; I needed a little good news. What's there to do?

They could do better. When I arrived, we were somewhere else. And people explained what had happened, that they needed to screen me for anything I could pass on to anyone else and be quarantined for it. I got to watch them do the testing. Pretty sure it's similar here.

We're on a cruise ship that periodically docks at amazing places. We're at sea now, so there's various food/drink, an entertainment lounge, study, spa, and so forth. And it's all free.

I vaguely remembering jabbering, but I was barely awake, so I'm still saying it was all kindsa rude.

Yeah? How much does the extra stuff cost? Ballpark it for me.

Sure. But we're not even on earth. Something benign and meaningless to your body could hurt a ton of people from other places/times. Forgivable rude, yeah?

While you're on the ship, everything's free. It's an all expenses paid trip. Back in Tumbleweed, Texas, you'll need to get a job.

We're not on earth? How is that even....? Exactly how far in the future am I?

Gonna just count my blessings on that one and worry about the rest later, 'cause I gotta say that I'm feeling good and overwhelmed.

And boy do I hope they don't mind if I upchuck in this hallway, because I definitely am feelin' pretty close to pukin'.

We were on earth, and odds are we will return there. I'm not sure if we're in the same time as Texas. But if that's the case 2018. Which, for me, is the past.

It... is a lot. So I'm sure that's a good normal amount of whelms.

They can clean it up if you do. Also, if you get seasick (outside of MASSIVE news), they have a shot for that.

Was there a better way to lead into that? I usually just go with how things are.

Oh, well if we're going back, it's no big deal.

...You probably can't tell, but that was sarcasm. Damn this thing.

How far in the past is it for you? A lot, right? It feels like it's a lot. Holy shit what the hell did I end up in?

[Ten minutes later]

Good, 'cause I can't say I'm in the mood to do the cleaning, and it's already starting to smell.

Nah, you were fine. There aint exactly an easy way to tell someone they got pulled from everything and everyone they know.
