Asking for things from "Santa" makes me really nervous. How do we know it isn't some kind of trick? That it'll work, but it'll be all messed up, or it'll take something else in return?

It's a matter of choosing prudently then. If it's tech, I can probably handle whatever gets attached to it. So... a balance between what you want and what you can handle going sideways?

I recall reading some references to those, but I arrived right after they were killed.

It's your call, I guess. I've been here too long to trust it. Maybe I wouldn't have trusted it anyway.

The kids got attached to them, and then they tried to kill us.

There's stuff not found in this universe that would help me a great deal. The risk is worth the reward for me.

That is sad. But at least we still have dogs here.

Then I hope that works out for you. And that you can handle whatever goes wrong, if it doesn't.

Yeah. I think we're going to get cats.

Thank you. I hope your surprises aren't nasty, whenever they happen.

Also good. My family grew up with a dog.

Right now I'm leaning towards not asking for anything so there aren't any surprises. [...] Although I guess there could also be a consequence to not asking for something.

My sister had a cat and a goat. I've never really been good with animals.

That would make sense. Everything is a choice/action. But somehow we all make a multitude of decisions every day. Remarkable when I think too much about it.

Well, cats seem to be highly independent animals. So that is a good choice.

I've had a lot of practice with figuring out the consequences of my actions in time to survive my choices. But there are too many unknowns here.

I'm not planning on picking it. My friends and their kids are doing that. But yes, my sister's cat was pretty good at finding his own food.

Oh yeah, it is a lot of variables. What do you choose to do here? It's so different than where/when I'm from.

Best of luck to them. I'm not sure there is a bad choice of cat. See that's an excellent skill. I've never had that.

I go to school and work at the florist. That usually doesn't get me into any trouble. Trouble finds everyone here, though.

I can find food. But I grew up hunting in the woods.

Oh which school? I'm home schooling because then I can study what I need to. And I mean, we were pretty good at finding trouble / trouble finding us back in our universe. So I will not be surprised.

The farthest I've hunted food is the kitchen. Well, one time the food attacked us.

The one taught by people who aren't from here. EPS. I graduated from the highschool, technically, but I'm still [...] behind. I like the classes here.

That's true for most people. The kitchen part, not the attacking part.

That one did sound more interesting. I am glad it's good for people. Can't say I've had the best experiences with institutionalized learning.

Yeah, I don't feel too bad about it. I'm not really an outdoorsy type. I've been outdoors, sure; it's just not what I prefer. And I do hope more people have not been attacked by their kitchens. It really disturbed my friend.

It may be institutionalized, but there's still much more access to higher learning here than there was in my home world. I'm sure the information we get is still controlled by the government, but there's still more of it.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if someone else around here has been attacked by a kitchen. People have a lot of weird stories. But I haven't been attacked by one, at least.

No offense, but that does not give me the best impression of the part of your universe you're from. There still is some control over what information we can even access online. But I'm utilizing everything I can access to learn what I need to.

That's good though. Well, it at least means we should have a greater collective creativity about problem solving.

You shouldn't get a good impression. It only gets worse from there.

We have done pretty well at collective problem solving, yeah.

Oh goodness. Glad you're here?

I'll admit, I do like puzzles.

I'm Pidge!

Yes, I am.

It's usually more fighting than puzzling over things, but if you can figure out how to do things without fighting, that would be better.

Nice to meet you.

Well, I'm glad too.

An unfortunately large percentage of problems end up getting solved with fighting. But it's nice when they aren't. And it's possible. As much as people might think otherwise about D&D and other table top systems, it is what they were meant for.

You too.
