I already told James I'd help with whatever I could on getting that going. And I could stand with the stakes being a little less for a while.

Same. O in Care of Magical Creatures, I'm assuming, with the dragon thing?

[...] But yeah, I'm the Cannons seeker. They were Dad's team. I got the offer after Hogwarts and I figured if I could get them a win it'd make him proud.

Good. Good. We need all the help we can get. Tumbleweed is pretty much our permanent base, even if we get knocked around from time to time, seem to always come back.

Among others, but yes. Not the same for you?

[...] Yeah, he'd have liked that.

I think someone mentioned we'd been some other places, but I didn't catch what all everything was.

No, I loved Magical Creatures. One of my favorite classes at Hogwarts, easily. [...] Honestly, I can sort of see dragons. You miss it?

Haven't gotten them a cup yet, but their numbers are higher.

We're not all on the same pages. A good portion of us, though, have been to the same locations. Others have a few others ain't ever heard of before they show. From my juxtaposition; we've had an underground military bunker, an Island, a horrible space cruise and then a stint in the 1950s.

That's good to hear. Was going to try to argue we couldn't be the same if you didn't. [...] Most days.

It's a start. How long you been with them?

Tonks said you'd been here a while. At least I think it was Tonks, I'm kind of losing track of who filled me in on what. I guess you'd pick up some travel if you had been.

You were Gryffindor right? Cause that might be a breaker if you weren't. What's the best part?

Since I sat NEWTs, so... that'd be four years I guess. I think Uncle Fabian's been to almost every game and I don't think Uncle Gideon's been to more than one We've got a good team this year so I'm hopeful this might be the year. [...] Well, or I was before I ended up here.

Going on three years. [...] Right. She's talking to you. Makes sense.

Yeah. Gryffindor was the way of us all in my world. Least til the next generation. [...] Of dragons?

That's [...] I'd have loved to have Fabian see me fly. Or Gideon. [...] Fabian has been here before. 'Course, I don't know if he was yours or mine. Guess if he was before '79, he was both ours. [...] Someone might show up from your world and let you know. Happens sometimes.

I think cause I'm talking to her. I suspect, although I could be reading the whole thing wrong, she'd probably rather be talking to the Charlie she knows.

All right then. Good. I'd have a hard time seeing myself as anything other than Gryffindor.

But yeah, of dragons. What am I missing?

He's a pretty good fan, if I do say so. Uncle Gideon [...] is busy a lot. He's come to a few games though. I was kinda wishing either one of them here. I bet Mum would really love to see them. [...] I was stupid and brought out pictures for her and got her all upset. I didn't think about it.

You're likely not wrong.

Hat got to the point it was making jokes when we'd show up. Heard it barely touched Ron's head before saying Gryffindor.

I don't think you are missing anything. I suspect you get the same out of Quidditch as I get out of working with dragons. And that was freedom. [...] 'Course, here, work for a damn cattle ranch. Not the same.

They were busy when we were little. It's hard not to imagine them as anything but. 'Course, it's hard to imagine them as anything more than memory, too. [...] It's still pretty fresh for her. Not your fault.

I'd say don't be an idiot, but... I probably don't have a lot of room to talk about being an idiot where girls are concerned.

Ron's the one that's not here, right? After Fred and George?

That seems about right. It's a good gig, and I can't rightly complain about it. The twins like getting season passes out of it too. I was trying to figure out what the hell I can do here, but I haven't come up with anything brilliant.

I know, but I should have thought about it. I don't always stop to thi I think I was just too caught up in actually seeing her. Uncle Fabian's great, easy to talk to, and he's always been supportive. Uncle Gideon and I don't always see eye to eye, but it's shit you don't have your own memories of him.

Tonks doesn't get to classify as a girl. At least, not in that sense. And she's not been fucking listening.

Mhm. He's the one.

Well, no promises, but if we can manage one another's company, like I said, we need the help. The goal is to make the spot lucrative and useful. If it's lucrative, means we can pay, means proper job. [...] Gonna need to find something in the interim though. Pizza Planet was hiring.

I get that. Haven't seen her in two years and that don't even compare, so I get it. He is pretty great. Was nothing but kind and helpful when he was here and it was wonderful having him around. [...] I remember them up until '81. Remember last time I saw them. Can't forget.

Right.

What's he like? More like Fred & George? Or more like Percy? Or more like Bill?

We talking Quidditch here? I think I'd put up with almost anyone to play. I don't maybe not some of the Ministry sorts. But you don't trike me like that. [...] You're really suggesting I put in an application at Pizza Planet? I've never made a pizza in my life.

Sometimes I think about how we probably should have all been gone too. It was just supposed to be an overnight with the Uncle's so Mum and Dad could have a break. [...] When's Ron's birthday?

Sorry. [...] It's [...] anyway.

He's [...] just Ron. He wouldn't want to be compared. He used to have issues with that. I think he felt lost in the shuffle. But he's good for a laugh the way the twins are. And damn fearless.

We're talking Quidditch. James has first dibs. But we both know you need more than one set of hands to properly run a Quidditch arena. And we were trying to figure out a way to let the muggles play. And, absolutely not. Ministry is more Bill and Percy's nonsense. [...] Neither have I. But they got this game. Hit little gophers with a mallet. It's pretty ace.

Hard not to think like that I imagine. Thoughts crossed my mind in other situations. [...] March 1st. 1980.

It's none of my business is what it is. She's not exactly my Tonks.

Yeah, I could see that. Youngest boy of all of us, probably would have been difficult. Has he been here?

Yeah, you do and James and I were talking some. I think we'd get on. It's a good plan, although it feels a bit mad to be so open about it with Muggles, but I guess this isn't home is it? [...] That sounds... I don't even know - I'll check it out. Thanks.

[...] Fuck.

I'm not exactly her Charlie anymore.

Couple times. Hasn't been around since Space.

I like James. Glad he's here and back again. And, yeah, we got to be selective about the muggles. If they are Displaced, it's fine. But regular old Texans? Mums the word. [...] Good for aggression. Hit enough of them and you get tickets. Buy little toys and such.

What?

That's not really her fault though is it?

Maybe he'll come back. I'd like to meet him. I haven't really sat down with Ginny yet, but I hope to. She seems pretty brill.

He seems like a good sort. I've heard the name and seen him about. He was at Longbottom's funeral, pretty certain, but I don't really know him well at home. [...] That sounds a lot more interesting than sitting in this house by myself.

I wondered, when Albus filtered down the date so easy. Mum was probably pregnant, just hadn't told us kids yet. I think I'm going to need a drink.

It's not. But right now it's like [...] trying to push a square peg through a round hole. [...] It's like she forgot I don't like being smothered.

He'll most likely come back. And then leave again. It's a damned cycle. It'll restart itself soon enough. [...] Ginny is amazing.

He is a good man. I'm hoping he sticks. He deserves this chance. This place is good for chances. When it isn't ripping people away, that is. [...] Just go to the damn Burrow, man.

[...] Fuck. Ronnie.

Yeah, I get that. Think she kinda just wanted to talk.

Is that why you're in such a strop? People come and go? Or is that unique to me?

I don't wan You know how you said you don't like being smothered? I'm used to a London flat and coming and going as I please, and bringing girls over as I please, and drinking and smoking without commentary. I'm not certain it'd be a good match. Plus - wouldn't it be weird?

Yeah [...] Sorry.

Maybe. [...] Not very good at that these days.

Part of it. And yeah, sorry, it's been a long line of things. Like I said, fucked this up last time. And you came at a bad time. [...] Trying to do better. Don't want to ruin Albus' thing Thursday so figured we best talk.

Shit. You are me. [...] I meant more to visit anyway. I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to stay under the roof myself. But I'll do my best not to make it weird.

Yeah.

Yet, here we are, talking, and I don't think we've fucked it up yet, which considering I'm you, and you're me, and we are ourselves - might be a bloody miracle.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to ruin that either. In theory we can be in the same room and not cause a meltdown, yeah?

See, there was a reason to the initial question. Where are you moving? Or is that in the too invasive category?

Probably 'cause there isn't much in the way of envy here, I suspect. Not like last time.

I'd prefer if we manage to not cause a meltdown. I like to think of myself as civil most times. I've just not been my best self as of late. So yeah, let's avoid any scenes and be nice and proper for everyone. They deserve it.

Not going to say just yet. Not sure I'm going anywhere but [...] I do better when I'm not crowded. We'll see what happens.

You can't say shit like that without some explanation. And I wouldn't say there's no envy. You got Mum and Dad. So. I might be a little envious, and let's just say if you and I go up against each other as seekers and you win, you might want steer clear for a month or three.

I remember all of the manners Uncle Gideon tried to teach me, even if half the time I ignore them. My worst flaw is just not thinking. But I'll try to behave myself. It can't be worse than a Press conference.

Fair enough. Like I said I get that. Worst problem I've got right now is just boredom. I don't have practices to keep me busy.

It was a world where Tonks lived. It was something to be envious of. [...] Yeah, should have phrased that better. Sorry, man. Just meant [...] I miss Gideon and Fabian, so having them around sounds great, but I don't like the alternative of Mum and Dad being gone. Both are shit options.

I don't know how long I'm going to stick around anyway. Snow mentioned swinging by so I'll be doing that. But we'll manage civility.

Careful. This place has a way of making sure you aren't ever bored for long. And if we get sent to some 1700s pirate ship in the next day or two, I'm blaming you.

s'all right. The whole week has been mental, so I probably jumped where I shouldn't have. She mentioned something about that actually. Here's a cheerful thought for you - maybe there's some timeline out there where we don't all bloody die cause of a bunch of pureblood maniacs? I'd have thought that was a pipe dream a week ago, but it's seeming rather possible now.

I'd like to think that I'm not that hard to get on with, really. Which means you can't be that hard to get on with. We'll be fine. [...] Who's Snow?

But swords and pirates, and maybe sea monsters. Sea monsters. Tell me that has no appeal whatsoever.

There honestly probably is. Wouldn't it be nice if that was the one we were all actually from and this has all been a dream? [...] Delusional as it may be.

Yeah, until we have to kill them for the survival of everyone. Because that's our luck.

I could think of worse delusions. Although, to be honest, I'm not going to think on it too hard, cause that means you and I end up in some sort of same body, same mind, one spirit thing - and that's a thought for when I've imbibed a lot more alcohol than I have currently.

I guess you get those if you stick around huh?

Are you always this much of a downer?
