So, dimensions and portals and ... alternate worlds. That's a thing now? I'm not sure I buy all this.

But fine. Quarantine, for two days. What's the recommendations for TV?

Army doctor, deployed to Afghanistan, wounded in battle and discharged. Back in London, I worked in a clinic, but I spent a lot of time helping my Sherlock solve cases.

You're American, aren't you?

Sherlock has a way of doing that. What other things?

[Private]
My Sherlock doesn't mention him. At all. And the few times he's been brought up, he's been silent and sullen and refuses to talk about it. Honestly, I can understand why I'm not pushing the subject.

It was a sort of clinic I met Sherlock through too.

I am. Sort of. Chinese-American. My family is from Beijing.

Personal other things. After Sherlock, he took me on as a protege, then we became partners.

It's understandable. Given his/their view on themselves and the world in general. If it's anything alike, feeling like the only person like them for their whole lives and then discovering they aren't.

Better not to push unless it becomes an issue.

Didn't meet my Sherlock through the clinic. We were both separately looking for somebody to help split the rent, and a mutual friend introduced us.

That's strange. Not that being a Chinese-American is strange. It's just strange to think that I would be.

Protege, huh? Are you dating? Damn it. Is that too rude to ask?

[Private]
Sounds about right. When I first arrived a helped your Sherlock go over some old case files, but we really haven't had any other contact since then.

Your arrival may make it more of an issue.

You voluntarily lived with him? He must be completely different from mine.

Gender and ethnicity seem fluid for doppelgΓ€nger. Although that might make it more of a counter-counterpart.

What would you call it when someone else teaches their methods and skills?

[Private]

Or possibly a non-issue. Your Sherlock has his Watson, mine has his.

Beyond the oddness of all of this, it shouldn't cause issue.

Do you know how expensive flats are in London? Besides, he was the most interesting man I'd ever met. What? Were you forced to live together?

Right.

He taught you how to---You actually learned how to make deductions like him? You must be as smart as he Protege, of course.

[Private]
I hope so.

About as expensive as they are in New York? 'Forced', no, but it was a condition of an employment. And then a room at the Brownstone was better than my porn abused apartment I leased out.

That's in the past now anyway. We're partners.

Okay. That's good. Porn abused apartment sounds gross, but I'm glad it worked out.

When you say 'partners', you don't mean...?

The ritual burning of the couch was symbolic. And I needed a new spatula.

I don't mean... We don't sleep together, no. We're partners in a consulting detective capacity.

I don't blame you.

And that's fine. Good for you. It's good that work together. I'm sure you make quite the team.

We do, yes. It's a very rewarding partnership.
