So, dimensions and portals and ... alternate worlds. That's a thing now? I'm not sure I buy all this.

But fine. Quarantine, for two days. What's the recommendations for TV?

That's a fair assessment, yes. Once you've ruled out all the possible explanations, regardless of how farfetched they might be, what you're left with, inevitably, is ... the truth.

Spoken like a true disciple of Sherlock Holmes. I'm rather chuffed to find that you're a woman.

What? Statistically speaking, it was sure to happen at least once!

Spend as much time with him as I do, that happens.

Thank you?

I expect you're an apt student.

Oh, it was most certainly a compliment. I'm glad to see a woman infiltrate the good old boys club.

Naturally. We're partners now, rather than student and teacher. Balance.

There's still a ways to go, but a lot of the men I work with see my abilities as they are. Although the misogyny is still there at times.

You're a fellow detective, then, instead of a surgeon?

I'll bet it is. Humanity's capacity of misogyny doesn't lessen very rapidly, I'm afraid. On Earth anyway. What year do you come from? I would guess some time in the recent past or future, given your seeming acceptance of the technology in your quarantine room.

Yes, I gave up being a surgeon before I met Sherlock. After, he trained me and now we work together.

I'm not going to get used to these questions quickly. It's early 2017 where I'm from. New York, specifically.

Both professions carry a similar logical bent. I can see how you might find pleasure in one if you enjoyed the other.

So not too terribly distant from your own time. It can be a bit jarring. My first forays into time travel were only a matter of decades, but then I was unceremoniously dumped 3,000 years into my future. Talk about a culture shock. The strangest thing here is not likely to be the temporal difference, but rather the kinds of people you'll meet.

There's definitely a lot I can carry over from on to the other, and they are just as fulfilling.

That does sound like it would be a shock to the system. But exceptionally interesting at the same time. To see what the world, any world, will be like, so long after we're gone. That sounds like quite the life.

My life has certainly not been uneventful. Or boring. Unfortunately, the temporal element of my usual mode of transportation does not work here, otherwise I would suggest you have a look for yourself.

I'm almost sorry too. It'd be really amazing to see. Removing the disbelief of everything being so wildly unusual here, the possibilities seem rather endless.

If you're ever looking to fill some time, there's a rather ridiculously large library in the TARDIS where I live. You can do a little exploration in mind if not in body.
