Tumbleweed Community Theater Proudly Presents

Directed by Kurt Wagner * Produced by Kitty Pryde

OPEN AUDITIONS

Saturday, November 11th - 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
at the Tumbleweed Commity Theater.
Come prepared with a short monologue of your choosing. You will be asked to read scenes from the script of the character(s) you're auditioning for.

The PDF version of the script may be found here
Characters Needed
The script has initially doubled and tripled roles. Depending on the turnout, some of these roles may be split to accommodate more actors. Smaller, non speaking ensemble roles may also be filled for crowd scenes, also depending on interest.

Actor 1 .......... Scrooge

Actor 2 .......... Bob Cratchit, Marley

Actor 3 .......... Nephew [Fred], Christmas yet to come

Actor 4 .......... Gentleman 1, Christmas Present

Actor 5 .......... Gentleman 2, Fezziwig, Mr. Haversham

Actor 6 .......... Mrs. Cratchit

Actor 7 .......... Niece, Christmas Past

Actor 8 .......... Young Scrooge, Joe (20-25 years), Thomas

Actor 9 .......... Peter Cratchit, Boy-in-the-street (15-18 years)

Actor 10 .......... Fan, Martha Cratchit (18-22 years)

Actor 11 .......... Tiny Tim, Boy Scrooge

Actor 12 .......... Belinda, Belle’s Daughter

Actor 13 .......... Dick Wilkins, Belle’s Husband, Balladeer

Actor 14 .......... Woman 1, Fiancee (Belle), Polly

Actor 15 .......... Woman 2, Mrs. Fezziwig, Mrs. Haversham

Also needed: backstage crew, sound crew, lighting crew, props, costumes.

ETA: Seeking musicians to play live music during the performance - a fiddler is ideal, but if more step forward with different instruments, then there can be an ensemble. May be asked to dress in costume and perform their music on stage, in-character.

Performance dates of the show are the 15th, 16th of December.

Cast will be announced within 48 hours of auditions. A rehursal schedule will be provided soon, thereafter. Performers will be given November 22 - 26 off for Thanksgiving, but will be asked to continue to review their lines.

Actors will taught to dance for the Fezziwig Christmas Party scene. An example of the type of dancing that will be done may be seen here.

Students taking Kurt Wagner's drama class are required to participate in some capacity.

Inquires and questions may be made to this post, or to Kurt Wagner, privately. Thank you, and break a leg!

I've only started doing plays since I ended up in Mt. Weather, but it's been loads of fun. I've also gotten way better at singing and dancing. So I'm really looking forward to it.

Which shows have you performed in? Which roles? There will be an area on the audition form which asks this question, but I'm curious now.

At Mount Weather, I was Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance - well, I was originally cast as Samuel but then the person playing Frederic disappeared. It was more than a little intimidating to get a big role like that my first time, but I had a really great director and a really experienced actress playing Mabel that helped me out.

And then I was Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors in our next production, and after I got here I was the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet.

All of those are fantastic roles I really hope nobody from my cast disappears in the middle of production Picking up a character like that at the last minute shows a lot of incentive. Which role are you looking at for Christmas Carol?

Yeah, I'm definitely not short on incentive!

No idea! All of these plays are new to me, and I'm just doing this for fun. I've always liked being dramatic and having an audience, so it's right up my alley. You can put me wherever you think I'd be the best fit.
