On Friday, I commented on a young lady's network post and heartlessly called her an 'idiot'. I sincerely apologize for my action. I allowed my temper to get the better of me, and promise to be more vigilant about what I write.

[Private to the Displaced Adults]

However, I stand by my concern for the Displaced underage youth. I understand they are required to have guardians when they arrive. How much supervision are they given? Tumblewood is turbulent and dangerous, and while I understand some of the youth have powers and may even be able to defend themselves, they are still children.

Your definition of what is appropriate consequences might not be that of the next guardian. And if a child is not being neglected or endangered, there's no reason to police that.

I guess we disagree on what's considered neglect and endangerment.

A guardian who doesn't severely punish their ward for making a stupid, but understandable mistake is not neglecting or endangering that child.

Who said anything about severely punishing their ward for making a stupid mistake though? Consequences and punishments ain't always the same thing.

I don't see how that's the case. Please explain the difference.

I still don't see where anyone was asking for a severe punishment but sure.

Consequences can range from actual punishments (grounding, stuff taken away for a week, etc) to having a discussion over the mistake you made and strategies to not go making that mistake again, to putting up a baby gate so you don't go into that area.

I don't think most people would make that distinction. And talking about what are appropriate consequences for a child's actions seems like a slippery slope to me.

I wasn't talking specifically about any one kid, but about what it can take to be an actual guardian.
