Hi, I'm new here and finally out of quarantine. I wasn't sure what to do with myself now that my brother and I are here. I'm fifteen, but I can do lots of different jobs. I know we will need money.

Also, this world is so wonderous, so different than where I'm from. Is there some way to learn more about all the science and machines here?

I took chemistry last year. I haven't taken physics yet. Alchemy sounds really useful - I don't think they teach it here, though. Maybe you could teach it?

A lot of the people here - the ones from other worlds - also know how to protect themselves. But it never hurts to have more. I learned how to fight at home, too, but I don't have the kind of powers some people have.

The florist sells mostly flowers, but they would probably know where to get an aloe plant. I can ask when I go to work tomorrow. I like aloe, too. I like useful plants better than flowers usually, unless they're edible flowers. Katniss is actually a type of plant.

Sign language is a way of speaking with your hands. I have a friend who can't speak with his mouth anymore, so he uses his hands, and I'm learning how to understand him. Shop is about using tools to build or fix things. Gym is physical exercise and sports. I'm not sure why that's a class, but it's a lot easier for me than learning math and science, so I don't really mind. There are art classes, too - I don't take them, but one of my friends did before he got accepted into university. Baelfire. He could probably tell you more about them.

I've never thought about teaching it to someone else. I'll have to think about it. My brother might be hurt since he can't do it anymore. Do you think other students would want to learn? It can be very dangerous, not many people know how to do it at home.

I heard from Ms. Frost that people have all kinds of powers here. I'm very excited to meet some of them, it must be incredible to be able to manipulate the elements or fly!

Thank you, I'd appreciate that. Flowers are pretty. Our mom liked them so we picked them for her a lot when we were little.

That's really nice of you to still try to communicate with him even though he's different. I bet he really appreciates that. It sounds very useful, a way to talk to people who can't hear or speak anymore. I'm good at math and science in my own world, if it's the same here I am happy to help you if you need it!

Wow university! Where you can do even more learning. Are you going to go there?

I think there would probably be people here who'd want to learn. I thought maybe I would learn, but if it's dangerous, maybe not.

Where did you live? Before you got here.

[...] He's my friend. Of course I'm still going to try to communicate with him. It's not nice, it's just what anyone should do.

I don't know if I'll go to university or not. It's expensive, and I don't know what I'd want to study.

It's dangerous if you try to do things you aren't ready to do. But I guess that's all things that have potential to do harm? I will have to ask my brother if I should but if he doesn't mind then I can try to teach you!

Amestris. It was maybe like the past was here? We didn't have any of this technology, but I wish we had! It'd have been amazing to send Winry and Pinako and our teacher Izumi letters instantly and get them wherever we were in the country when they replied! We had to write letters on paper to communicate or we could use telephones if the person was wealthy enough to have them. How about you?

It is what anyone should do, I agree.

Oh, I didn't think about paying for it. Are we supposed to be paying to go to school now? I know Ms. Frost said we wouldn't have to but I can't believe they'd let us live somewhere and feed us for free without making us join and do some job or service for them?

Oh. Well, maybe. I'd definitely be careful about it.

I've never heard of that place. I'm from District 12 in Panem. We didn't have technology like this, but they had even more advanced technology than this in the Capitol. They just didn't let people in the Districts have any of it.

I haven't had to pay for school so far. I think it's free up to a certain point? Maybe the government pays for it?

I've never heard of those places either. But that sounds sort of like the military at home, they had more advanced things in the capital city than they did in the country where we lived before. But the difference wasn't that great to have nothing then have more advanced than here. What does more advanced technology look like?

That would make sense.

They had windows that could show any sort of moving pictures you wanted, buttons to press that would make food appear instantly, all kinds of shower and bath settings, and really advanced medicine. Those are the main things I've noticed from what time I've spent in the Capitol. It wasn't a lot. I also haven't taken a train here to compare it to the ones at home.

Wow, food appeared instantly?! That's incredible! I heard about a microwave here that heats food in seconds, that sounded amazing to me. It can take a long time to heat food on the stove or over a fire back home.

Medicine being advanced is also great. [...] Could they grow new arms or legs if they were amputated?

We had trains at home, I don't know what the ones here are like. They were nice, since it meant you didn't have to walk everywhere.
