Jamie was beginning to believe that the Department of Mutant Affairs didn't trust him.

While he knew he ran a secretive department in the British Government, he didn't see that was any reason to not immediately hand over any information he might want. And he did believe that they had information on Pete Wisdom and where he might have been seen. He could have made them talk. He could have twisted their little strings around his fingers and bent them to his will.

Some days he thought about doing that. Some days he thought about undoing everything.

There were days he really needed to be supervised.

But today he was on good behavior. Val had invited him to the Department Building to meet about possible leads, and he didn't really pay attention to the time, but he showed up in the early afternoon. He was led upstairs to a conference room and was told to wait there.

So waiting he was, and he ran his hands across the table to stop himself from pulling on any cords. Everything was new and different in America.

If nothing else, Black Air could get people somewhere in style.

The jet was elegant, black, and entirely decadent. Partly, that was because that was the way that Braddocks did things. Partly, if Jamie had some whim that wasn't meant, who knew what he would do? His people had learned quickly to over prepare and adapt quickly.

On this trip, Jamie just slept in a chair that was obscenely large for a plane. Private jets were the way to go.

He woke up just as the plan was touching down. Pulling out his planner, he made a few quick notes. "First, we get Betsy. Then, we find out what happened to our Mr. Wisdom. Can't be that hard, right, chaps?"
