Who: John Smith and anyone around
What: The afterlife isn't what it's cracked up to be
Where: The halls
When: Evening
Rating: Low, probably
He didn't know what he expected to happen when he opened the watch. Something dramatic and painful to suit the terrifying thought that he'd simply cease to be. He didn't have very much time to think about it, of course, as he only shortly learned of the watch's true purpose before he was required to open it...but in the stories such deaths would have been sufficiently dramatic.
It wasn't. He opened the watch and...
And he stood elsewhere. He was disoriented a moment, and for another terrible one he thought he might remain aware and trapped in the Doctor's mind...but when he willing his eyes to open his breath seized up in surprised. The hallways around him were familiar only because he'd sketched them while the memories of the dream remained fresh.
But-but...how could he be here? Where was Joan? Why was he still alive? Was he alive? Was this the afterlife, constructed from his dreams? Only a short time ago he might have found such a thing alluring, when the Doctor and his magic box were a fantasy conjured by an overactive imagination.
Now, it seemed, a cruel taunt of God. But what else could it be? Could it be the inside of the watch, his position swapped with the Doctor now?
He shivered, and took a few steps forward. An eternity alone in this place was more terrifying than the thought of simply ceasing to exist.
"H-Hello?" He called, and the thought that this could be the afterlife with others lurking about now seemed something to hope for. "Is anyone there? Hello?"
Nothing.
He picked up speed, perhaps subconsciously fleeing the panic that began to build in his mind at the emptiness of the hallway. "Please! Some one! Answer me!"
