I remember watching young Timothy and thinking he had so much more potential than he'd shown. I remember all of it as John Smith, not as the Doctor. I remember falling in love with Joan. Mind you, I also remember making Martha angry enough she slapped me." He grimaced at that. "Probably deserved it, to be honest. I know that from your point of view, she was vastly overstepping her bounds, but she really was more than just a maid. She's brilliant. A proper doctor, the last I saw her."
