Who: Josey and Mary
Where: Queens, a parking lot
Why: Mary gets a flat then she gets in trouble
When: After dark.
Rated: PG-13 to R depending on Gore
The ground was friggin' freezing. She knew she should have never left the safety of her truck but she needed to swap out the flat for the spare and no amount of wishing was gonna get that done. It was the time and place that she'd decided to be an idiot that was the problem.
Queens.
In her defense, she'd never been here long enough to know one boro from the next. For all her guessing this could have been Brooklyn or Yonkers (Where the hell was that anyways?) and besides, it wasn't like she decided to get a flat at this point in her journey from Florida back up to Maine. It had just happened and now she was in a predicament. It wouldn't be her first. Hopefully it wouldn't be her last.
It was her impatience that had been her enemy. She should have laid low, kept quiet inside and dealt with it in the morning. Maybe then, none of these rotters would have stumbled out of the darkness, investigating the roar of the Engine and the sound of Nursery Cryme playing out of the 6 disc CD changer that had seemed like such a stroke of luck when she'd found the Toyota back in Virginia. New York City was not her favorite place and she had been brash and thoughtless in a hurry to get away from the disaster that this place was for her and now Mary was stuck under her truck as a huge pod of Zombies moved in to surround her.
She didn't even have her rifle. It was stuck on the front seat...along with her pistol and the bat and anything else that she could have fought these fuckers off with. She hadn't even had time to grab the tire iron. All she has was some harsh language and one hell of a stubborn streak. She seriously doubted that would be much good.
The truck was still running and she figured that the things must be attracted to the heat coming from the engine and the cab. They didn't know she was here which was a blessing but they weren't leaving either and they probably wouldn't until the truck ran out of gas and stalled out.
Just stay still Mary. She thought. Fuck, the ground was so cold....
