Katie had spent the better part of her days home... away from home. She'd spent Thursday night at home and Friday had hung out with George and everyone else. After the fifteenth person stopped in and tried to jog her memory, Katie had thrown her hands up in exasperation and begged Lexi for asylum. It turned out her friend had a new place out in the middle of nowhere and she'd spent the better part of Saturday hiking and hitting bottles with spells. It'd been rather cathartic. Sadly, it hadn't helped her memory much. Katie hadn't wanted to intrude and had headed home Sunday morning to spend the day with George, who, had her laughing and giggling every five minutes. So much so, she finally had to kick him out when her headache started up.
Idly scratching Bludger's head, Katie heard a knock at the door, and shrunk down on the couch, willing the dogs to be silent. It was six pm and she'd had twelve visitors today. Twelve. Not that she didn't love her friends. She really did. They were wonderful and her house smelled like flowers and baked goods. Picking at a piece of browning, Katie had given up trying to remember all the stories people kept throwing at her. When the knocking stopped, she sighed with relief and headed to the kitchen. Opening her fridge, she glanced through the many different food items that had been delivered. She pulled out a box from a restaurant she couldn't remember ever having been too. But, it had a note that thanked her for her patronage and to enjoy her favorite dessert while in recovery.
Katie opened the box and stared inside. "Poached pears?" she asked, tilting her head, staring at the carmel covered fruit. Puling out a fork, Katie took a bite and it was like she'd been hit by every memory she'd ever had about Marcus Flint. The taste exploded over her tongue, reminding her of every dinner they'd had and every moment he'd pushed his plate towards her when she was still hungry. Or made sure she got a couple of bites of his favorite dessert. A rush of feeling and emotion swamped her and Katie dropped her fork in surprise.
Without thinking, Katie didn't bother finishing her dessert, she pulled on a pair of sneakers, wearing her yoga pants and hoodie and headed straight to Flint's. She didn't think about how she got there. All she knew was that she needed to see him. Katie didn't bother knocking. She hadn't knocked before and she didn't know now.
"Marcus?" she called, wondering if he was even home from practice yet. When she didn't get an answer, she sat down, deciding to wait it out. She missed him. There was an ache inside of her knowing that they'd fought. Knowing she hadn't remember what it felt like to sleep next to him and have him hold her? She hated herself a bit for forgetting.
