She stood up as he entered, managing to keep from letting her jaw drop at how bloody perfect he looked without a shirt and how sexy he was standing there, leaning against the door frame. A vivid memory of him pushing her against the lockers in the National's locker room came flooding back. He'd been freshly showered then, as well. His hair slightly mussed and damp. Her heart skipped a beat. She tried to find her voice but it didn't seem to want to work and she just swallowed instead.
Fuck. It wasn't even just about the sex. After every time they'd been together... he'd stuck around. He'd never asked her to leave. He hadn't left or run off and she was pretty certain that he hadn't been with anyone while they were... He made sure her burger was cooked through. Or that she had her lucky sports bra before a scrimmage. When the hell had she developed feelings for him?
Clearing her throat, she brushed her hair off her face, idly playing with the ends of her ponytail before tossing it over her shoulder. "I, ah, remember," she said, nervously. "Everything... and I wanted to see you and everyone keeps stopping by...but I was having a poached pear, from the restaurant in Knockturn and I just remembered everything and how much you loved it."
Her voice trailed off as she debated the merits of telling him how she felt. Marcus didn't do emotion very well and Katie realized his reaction was pretty much going to be horrible if she let it out. She'd never been one to shy back about how she felt but this was Marcus Flint and Katie was terrified of rejection. From him? It'd kill her. "I have feelings for you," she blurted out, eyes widening slightly at her confession. "They were there... for a while now..."
