At least, I haven't been able to load it for about an hour now. I'm in California.

They had announced scheduled downtime later this week for server maintenance -- it's looking like they seriously need it.

*sigh* frustrating

After it's been down four times that I'm aware of (possibly more), there's finally a message on the status page:

LiveJournal is currently experiencing some intermittent downtime. Our Operations staff is working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

This on-again, off-again thing is getting rather annoying, I have to admit.

ETA: Just to keep this complete - about four hours later, the status page now says:

On Sunday, October 26, 2008, LiveJournal experienced some intermittent downtime. The situation has been resolved and the heavily armed monkeys guarding the servers currently report no site-wide problems.

After about two hours of working just fine, LJ seems to be down AGAIN.

It's timing out again, and so far there's no news on what's going on.

ETA: And here it is again ... LJ's just being a tease today, isn't it?

ETA again: And down again - for the third time now! WTF is going on with LJ today?!

ETA once more, with eyerolling: Up again. *yawns*

At least, something's happening - I just got a page to load, and my flist was loading partially. Now it's timing out again ...

ETA: Nope, gone again. No sign of it now. :-(

ETA: The status page doesn't have anything yet, but the Herald has picked up the problem:

The site seems to be down. Several users report being unable to load any page. We don't have any other information for now.

It's about 7:30am (EST) and apparently LiveJournal's been down for about 5 hours so far?

No update on status.livejournal.org, which was last updated 4:44 am GMT (Tuesday, July 15).

Why did LJ die? :(


edit: LiveJournal never finishes loading, and nothing will display. On my status bar, it just shows that it's stuck on "Transferring data from p-stat.livejournal.com..."

I'm using Firefox v2 (Windows XP), and I'm in the states. It also won't load in IE.

I wonder why no one's said anything in so many hours...

edit x2: ~10:40am EST, LJ seems to be back up again. That was a lot of hours of downtime!

LJ is loading again! The status page currently says:

LiveJournal is up. Notifications may be delayed as a backlog is cleared, however.

So we're almost back to normal, it seems. Feel free to pimp this comm, though - just so we're prepared for the next emergency. *g*

The status page still claims LJ is "up", but this is a filthy lie. I'm not even getting an error mesage on most pages; they just refuse to load.

The off-site page of the LJ Herald doesn't have any news yet either.

ETA: The status page now says:

Sicne LJ seems once again to be down, and our former refuge @ GJ is no more, I opened this instead.

This comm is for two purposes:

1. When LJ is down and/or not working properly, you can find (or post) updates on the situation here, as well as use the comm as a multifannish noticeboard where everyone can announce whatever is currently going on here at IJ.

2. In addition to that, whether LJ is down or you're avoiding it for other reasons, this is also a place to find other fans/fannish communities.
