and the recruitment continues
Who: Aidan and December
Where: The Brewery
When: Morning
After being sent away from Sylvia’s the night before, Aidan was having trouble lifting his mood. He knew she was young, but he’d felt a connection with her, one that he couldn’t believe was all due to some kind of a vampiric spell. But he had to respect her wishes and leave her be, at least for a while. Something had spooked her and he was determined to find out what. He had a clue that it was Darcy, a suspicion that was confirmed later that morning when he began to argue with Darcy via text message. By the time he got into work, he was ready to punch someone. It was a good thing he was working back in the brewery, rather than the main room, because any wrong word might have caused him to snap. Trying to calm himself down, he poured himself a beer. It was never too early to drink.
December was taking things into high gear fast, so she was up bright and early to go get shit rolling. She already had a spot marked out on a town map to show people and send them there. She'd told Mannix about it, so he could pass the word on, and she'd get others kicked out of bed soon enough. When she got to the bar, she was sent back to the brewery when she asked for Aidan. Knocking on the door and heading inside, she peered around. "Aidan?" she called.
“Over here!” he called out, heading towards the voice before he even knew who was calling. When he saw who it was, he paused, trying to recall if they’d met before. “I’m Aidan O’Reilly,” he said, talking over to her, beer still in hand. “What can I help you with?”
December walked further in til she spotted the guy, then walked up to him. "Hi." she said. "I'm December, and Jack told me you were the guy to talk to. Specifically about werewolf shit. So, hi. Let's talk werewolf safety procedures." Yep. December never really did do 'subtle' when she didn't absolutely have to. The place looked deserted, so...yeah.
“Oh, hi,” Aidan said, eyes widening a little as she jumped straight into a conversation he wasn’t expecting to have. “Sure. Would you like a beer?” It felt only appropriate to offer when he was already drinking one himself. “I started pulling some things together for a pen of some sort, but I haven’t gotten a chance to build it yet. What were you thinking?” If he wanted something to take his mind off Darcy, this was it.
Considering it, eventually she nodded. "While I'd totally love to have this discussion drunk, I have a lot to do today, so, I should probably not." she admitted. "An encampment in the woods, build something out there where people can be safe, or as safe as possible. I've got people that'll be helping either way, but I wanted you on board, and to get any werewolves you happen to know on board too. Or I can. I'm happy to talk people into things."
“Not trying to get you drunk, but I understand,” Aidan said with a small smile. It was early. Too early for a beer, most likely, but today he needed it. “I can talk to the two I know and get them on board. And if that doesn’t work, I’ll call you in. Are you planning on one big pen? Or were you going to portion it off per wolf? I’m concerned that if they’re all in there together, they might kill each other. From what I hear, a few of them are already at each other’s throats.”
"I'm like five foot not much and ten pounds. I'm what's referred to in layman's terms as a cheap date." December deadpanned. "I was going to see what we had to work with when we got there, and how many people I can sucker into doing hard labor like, all day today and tomorrow before things get all fuzzy." she said. "You figure you can get it done?" She paused and got her phone out to hand over her number, and she put the map on the nearest flat surface. "Here." she said, pointing to the circle she'd drawn in red ink on the map, tapping it with one black polished nail, the ends chipped. "Good to know about the pissy bitch mode shit, I'll take that into consideration."
“Point taken,” Aidan said with a nod. At her size, one beer could be enough to get her buzzed. If she was undertaking building a werewolf pen, she needed to be sober. “I think I can convince ‘em. And I can be there by noon today. If Lochlan and Pat aren’t working, or can get someone to cover for them, I’m sure they’ll be there, too. I know at least Lochlan understands the importance of such a structure.” Aidan took down her number and gave her his own, just in case one of them needed to contact the other. It was easy enough to look someone up, but this was faster. Then he looked at the map and studied the location she had planned for the encampment. “How many wolves do you think we’re talking total?”
"Don't I wish I had a real number." December sighed. "I guess we'll find out." she shrugged. "For now, I've recruited everyone I could to help out with this. It's a major undertaking, but it'll be worth it if we can hand over some peace of mind, right?" She gave him a light half smile.
“Yeah,” he said, giving her a smile back. “So I take it you’re not one yourself? How’d you get roped into setting this up? I mean, I think it’s great, since I was struggling with building something for two, but you’re right, this is a major undertaking. We’re going to need some serious manpower to get this done on time.”
"I'm not one. Somehow I wound up signing on to be the ambassador for supernatural relations. I'm not sure how it happened. But, I'm stepping up because someone has to and I guess I have a personality that means I'm not going to cower just because someone's got an edge on me." she said with a shrug. "I could also just be a gigantic dumbass, so there's that. Time will tell."
“No, I think this is good,” Aidan said. “I think they need someone to step up and someone from the outside is better, otherwise they get all up in each other’s faces about who’s the pack leader and whatnot. You’re not trying to be their leader. You’re trying to keep them safe. That’s what I was trying to do, but on a smaller scale, so I’m glad I can help.”
"Oh trust me, they got up in my face too. Or, one of them did, anyways. Talking about alpha shit, and..." she shook her head. "Nevermind! Totally not the point." she assured. "But hey if you want to sign on to help out, I'd take the help. So, there's that." she said. If Aidan wanted in, she'd not turn him down. Not even a little. "So, you got this?"
Aidan laughed a little and shook his head. It sounded like they were all having a bit of the same experience with the werewolves. He’d been lucky enough not to face a bitchy alpha yet. “Yeah, I got this. I’ll be there for sure, and I’ll contact the ones I know and get them on board. You’ll probably see me around noon today, but if you need anything before then, just give me a ring.”
December smiled, wolf fang earrings swaying slightly as she stood straight again. "Well, this was easy. Sweet. Nice meeting you, Aidan, and thanks for all the help and shit. We'll have to get a beer sometime and talk." she told him. Then she turned to leave, sounding amused. "And you might wanna not be day drunk by the time you get there." she teased.
“Don’t worry. I’m not having more than one,” he said with a little laugh, waving her goodbye. This was what he needed, a task to keep him from stewing over Sylvia running off and Darcy meddling in his life. They both needed some time, Sylvia to calm down and Darcy to stew in her own shit. By the time the full moon was past, he could figure out what to do with the both of them.
