The first couple who leans against my interface in a display of New Year's Eve passion is going to get shocked.

Thank you, and Happy New Year.

Do you know about lurgies?

I know nothing about them, no. What are they? Are they alien?

Oh, no! A lurgy is a kind of disease of the spirit. An infectious mood, I suppose you could call it. There are lots of different kinds. The celebration sort isn't too bad. All that excitement! All that kissing! They pass very quickly. But if you've got one and you get hit on the head, or, say, shocked all of a sudden, they can stick.

I'm always careful about kissing at holiday parities, anyway. Mistletoe and nargles are a different thing, but you've still got to be careful!

Are you trying to talk me out of shocking amorous party-goers by convincing me that they might get "a disease of a spirit"?

A lurgy. And they'll already have it.

You're very confusing.

I don't think so, but perhaps I am.

So I could have given everyone electric shocks and they wouldn't be able to get out of party mode?

I suppose. Oh, but I couldn't recommend it.
