► Mod Notes ► British and Irish League Quidditch play-offs are in full swing. This schedule will be updated with the Quidditch scores. After that, it's all on you to talk about your games, what happened in them, etc. The team bios page has a list of both in-game and OC players on the teams. If you want to make up names for the other players on your team, just drop box the names and pbs to us, and we'll get them on the list. ► Please take a few minutes to go to the drop box and fill in one of the copy and paste questionnaires. These will help give us a little more content for Witch Weekly. ► Any plot ideas or events? We're not requiring you to come up with one, but if you have any, we'd love to hear them! ► Character Gains/Losses Theodore Nott, Luna Lovegood and Astoria Greengrass has been removed for inactivity. We had two wonderful new players join us in March - Sarah, who joined us with Alicia Spinnet and Chels who joined us with Oliver Wood and then picked up Katie Bell. Laura added Angelina Johnson and Natasha added Terence Higgs. Please type your username into the box below, then press "Friends Button." Remember to do it for each of your characters. You have to be logged into a journal to use it for that particular journal. A note about requirements. If you have an 'X' next to your name at the end-of-the-month check, you MUST meet monthly requirements at the next end-of-the-month check, or your character will be removed from the game. ► Ongoing Events Children under the age of eleven who have at least one magical parent are still banned from attending muggle schools. The Ministry is considering two alternative educational options. The Quidditch World Cup draws ever closer and England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland are all fielding teams. England's hosting this year after a Nundu attack put Kenya's Quidditch community out of commission. This is a Big Deal with capital letters, and the eyes of the world are watching. ► Behind the Scenes As everybody knows, Victory Day is coming up on May 2nd. Just like every other year, there will be games, food, memorabilia, speeches, a moment of silence for the fallen and the evening ends with fireworks. Businesses are closed and everybody has the day off from work. During the fireworks last year, the Dark Mark was cast and Aurors responded by following protocol and placing an anti-Apparation jinx over the entire area, causing a stampede out of Hogsmeade and into the surrounding muggle areas during which several people were injured and the Statute of Secrecy was violated. This year there will be some serious concerns about safety and a lot of people will question whether or not it's even worth it to attend, now that they know for certain that a handful of Death Eaters are really still out there. ► Upcoming Events Both pre-Hogwarts schools need to do some fund-raising this month. On 6 April, the magical-subjects school will host a picnic dinner in a field just outside Hogsmeade. It's very much a family event, and there are things like face painting and typical carnival games for children to go along with musical entertainment. Baskets packed with food for a family of four can be bought for 20 Galleons (£100). At some point before the 8th, Roger Davies will bring a muggle girlfriend to Diagon Alley, causing speculation that he's a member of OSTENDO and sparking debate about when it is and isn't okay to tell muggles about magic. On 11 April, fans of Pride of Portree and the Irish National Team, along with people who were offended by the suggestion that their muggle loved ones shouldn't be a part of this important aspect of their lives, will show their support by escorting their muggle family members and significant others to Diagon Alley for a day of shopping and sight-seeing. The muggle-cirriculum school has its fundraiser on 19 April when they host a "science fair" in muggle London just a few doors down from the Leaky Cauldron. Tickets can be bought at the door for 5 Galleons (£25) each. Inside, it's like one of those children's science museums where you learn nothing and touch everything. They've got levers and pulleys and tornadoes and giant, complicated water fountains and lasers and robots and that big metal ball that makes your hair stand on end - it's Arthur Weasley's version of Heaven, basically. The event is open to the public all day and if you get hungry, there's an absurdly expensive but wicked cool molecular gastronomy restaurant inside. And if the "absurdly expensive" bit sounds good to you, there's also a gift shop full of things that should work just fine even in magic-filled houses without electricity. SOMETHING! will happen on 25 April. What exactly? I haven't the foggiest. Harry, Carlotta Pinkstone, Penelope, and Alicia's mother may be involved. There could be arrests and injuries and interrogations or some combination of those things. We've got almost a month to figure it out. On 28 April, there will be a big event at which the first match-ups for the Quidditch World Cup will be chosen. ► Questions ► Witch Weekly's Most Charming Smile Award will be given out this month. None of you are going to win, but are there any gentlemen out there who'd like to be considered as one of the runners-up/honourable mentions? There may or may not be a "Least Charming Smile 'Award'" that you could volunteer for if you so chose. But also: Do you have any other suggestions either for PBs we should use or non-played characters from the books who should be considered? ► We've been thinking about the possibility of adding some muggles to the Available Characters list. Before we just go ahead and do that, there are several questions we have for you guys first. ► There are four events - the muggle day in Diagon Alley, both school fundraisers and the Quidditch match drawing dinner - that we could put up a group thread for. Which events would your character attend if we decided to do that? |
