All comments are screened and will be kept completely private.

Article Suggestions

Interviews with characters don't have to be about anything topical. Here's some questions that characters can fill out and be used as features in any issue. There's a variety of questions so we can pick and choose which to use. These can be filled out by in-game characters or NPC family members/work colleagues.

Also, feel free to add extra questions.

What's On Your Wireless? Music-based questions.

The Book Nook Interview Questions for bookworms! (And non-bookworms, too!)

The Quidditch Player Interview For those professionals amongst us.

The Quidditch Fan Interview For all other Quidditch-y things.

Speaking of Style Fashion questions.

If your character wants to be interviewed for a more specific purpose, leave us a message.

I have a question dears. How are we handling players for each of the National Teams for the Quidditch World Cup? I remember once upon a time it meant that if you were going to play for England/Wales/Scotland/Ireland that you took the year off from your respective teams to train with your National team. Is this still the case? Or will it be like certain Olympic events where professional athletes get together a few weeks before the start of the tournament and they're allowed to play for their countries/depends on how each National team across the globe choose to handle it?

Doesn't matter either way for me, I was just wondering so that I don't play it wrong.

Since we've already got the regular teams' schedules set and we've been playing like it's expected to continue, and since we didn't realise the QWC should be happening until way after the players should be off their teams and onto their Cup teams, then I guess players finish out the season with their pro teams and join up with the Cup teams after the season's over at the end of May, which still gives them a couple of months of practise.

Of course, then there'd have to be some way to determine who plays in the World Cup. So I guess that would have to work like the playoffs, where you lose once and you're out. Let's say for simplicity's sake there are 128 countries with the resources/interest to compete. That means there would be six rounds of games before the Cup and we could reasonably condense that to 4 weeks. So if the World Cup takes place around the same time it did in 1994, it would start on the 20th of August, which means they could practice all of June, play all of July, then practice for most of August. How does that sound?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!! I think that sounds fantastic and really logical. So next question. Would it be okay if Cormac were to play with the Irish when the time gets closer? I kind of feel bad for all the crappy stuff I've been letting happen to him. haha. If not, totallly fine. Just figured I'd ask first.

Yeah, that would be perfectly fine. But thank you for asking! He's the captain of a professional team (which for some reason I imagine is pretty rare for Beaters) and there are, what, only three Irish teams total? Of course there are Irish players on non-Irish teams but there are going to be non-Irish players on Irish teams as well, and I think it all evens out to equal not an insane amount of competition, all things considered. He'd be a natural choice.

Yay! I'm very excited thank you! I was hoping the fact that he was Captain would give him a bit of an edge as far as the rest of the Irish playing population went. Ha. Ballycastle and Kenmare I believe are the two Irish teams...I think. I'm too lazy to check at the moment. Lol. But yeah, in the end it does sort of balance out in the end, which just leads me to say THANK YOU again. :)

You're welcome! And I guess it's up to you whether he already knows or finds out later or whatever. It seems logical that the teams would be chosen in March, after the end of the regular season, but they might know now.

I'm thinking maybe he doesn't know for sure now, but has an inkling. Like maybe he's been talking to the National team soon-ish and then as time gets closer he'll have a more solid idea that he's going to be playing for them and then at the end of the regular season he'll know "for sure" when it's officially done or whatever.

Yeah. The British and Irish Quidditch League (run out of the Ministry) makes the selections (after having seen the full professional season as well as Hogwarts matches) and assigns players to teams. Of course, they don't have to accept, but who wouldn't want to? And most players make it known that they'd like to play and what country they'd play for so it's not like the League's taking a shot in the dark. But Cormac is captain and being a part of the Irish team would mean he wouldn't get to train the Bats during the off-season, putting his captaincy in danger, so they might get in contact with him ahead of time to see how he feels about that and everything, while not making promises because they still have to see how the rest of the season goes/if he gets injured/if someone else starts doing incredibly well/how the Bats' owner or manager or whatever feels (because it's a business and they've got to keep the people in charge happy).

Exactly! Its such a high honor to play for your country so who in the right mind would turn it down. I think the danger of losing his captaincy (something he's worked so hard for and doesn't take lightly) and he would appreciate if they talked to him about it, and was probably one of the factors into him actually sitting down an thinking it over before he yes to being on the National Team, deciding that the risk of losing that title would be worth it if he can bring home the Cup again for Ireland (granted of course this is no grantee, but he's being stupidly cocky over Ireland's chances...go figure. In for a penny in for a pound I suppose.). Exactly, and I think over say the last year or so he's really started to understand the business side any more and I'm sure he'll start talking to owners to make sure that they're comfortable with him leaving for the off season and whatnot. Still understanding that he could lose it, but at least everyone will be on the same page and no one will get totally blind sided should it happen. :)

The Bats could end up deciding that, because they brought Cormac in as a new Captain just last year and the Quidditch World Cup really is a big deal, they don't want to change things too much and risk destabilising the team. So, if it looks like they'll have the exact same players next year anyway and they're all already used to his leadership, they might just choose to hire an extra coach to pick up the slack during the summer. So that's how you can eventually resolve that without problems.

I'm kind of really in love with that idea. And I'll probably take it and run with it if I can. :) Assuming that we suddenly don't get an influx of Bat's players who all want to be traded away. Just kidding. =p But thanks for the idea, it's something that I rather do like.

For the record and clarity's sake, though, it's not just professionals on the teams. For countries like England where Quidditch is huge and they've got a lot of teams to choose from, it will be mostly pros. For other countries with only one team, it might actually be that team. And there will be countries competing who don't even have a professional Quidditch team due to size or the economy or the area they're in not being very interested, but they'll field teams anyway and usually get knocked out in the first round although there have been occasions where teams like Barbados have gone on to the final Cup match. For every country, though, there's the chance that a particularly talented student who's not old enough to join a professional team might compete for the Cup. (Like Krum, they're usually Seekers. They're kind of like gymnasts, where being small and light and not experienced enough yet to be reasonably afraid of things works in their favour.) And for every country, there's always the chance that retired legends might come back for one more go - just because they don't want to play full-time anymore doesn't mean they're not competitive. When that happens, it's usually Chasers.

That makes perfect sense, because I was thinking about players like Krum at the time who had yet to finish school, and things concerning countries and their relationship to the game and economics and things like that. I appreciate the clarity in it though, probably help down the line a bit when everyone starts talking about teams and the like. :D

Yeah, I figure this is where people are going to come when they have questions, so I should take the opportunity to make things as clear as possible.

The mental somersaults that Ginny just went through are astounding. It went from 'ooh, that sounds like fun!' to 'wait...I've been gone from playing for 9 months now...' So I don't think her hopes are very high but I know she'll try and up her ante the next few months. If she manages to get back to playing like she wants to :)

She's a Chaser and there really are a lot of Chasers to choose from, so it does seem kind of implausible she'd get a chance this year after being gone all year. Every team with characters from the game will be going to the playoffs this year, though, so that gives her a little more time. If she was asked, though, there's no realistic way there wouldn't be a lot of backlash from fans and other players just because she's been gone so long. There would be accusations of favouritism, bribery, etc. Which could actually be a lot of fun to play out.

On another note, if Ostendo needs someone from the list to target, I know Annalisa seemed interested/excited about it when we were talking. I would not be against Ginny somehow becoming involved in this, too, if it makes a difference. I'd love to bust her out of this matronly bubble at some point, just to shake things up.

Well, I imagine all sorts of Witch Weekly stuff will emerge from the Valentine's plot (yay!). I was thinking maybe after that has died down a bit, WW might like to suggest Kevin is on the hunt for the mother of his future-children. He has been talking about children a lot lately, so while it's not based in truth it's not completely out of left field either. We must keep the women in Kevin's office entertained, after all.

We're doing a Chatterbox page in the next issue. We could bring up the children now and then, if it comes up again in the game, revisit it later?

Hi! I would like Katie to get pregnant soon? And find out about six weeks after?

So in 6weeks to 2months can Katie be pregnant?
