► Mod Notes ► There will be a few more things added/expanded on later, but we could either put this up a little incomplete or not get it out today at all. Sorry for the inconvenience and you'll be made aware of changes as they occur. ► On a related note, we were both slammed with unexpected things and busy schedules at the end of the month and it means a lot of stuff hasn't been getting done. We're sorry for that. If any of you are interesting in helping us make sure that doesn't happen again by becoming a co-mod, e-mail the mod journal to let us know. ► We'd like to ask you to use the drop box instead of AIM if you have a question concerning plot or another character. Don't get us wrong, we love to talk to you on AIM, but it's easier for both of us to be on the same page with a question or concern if it's in a place where both of us can reference it. ► The "Senior Discount" is official, for those of you who were unaware. ► On that note, the "Senior Discount" is being offered to those of you who are participating in NaNoWriMo this year. Just make sure we know about it. ► TAG YOUR THREADS or we're not going to count them. It's not our responsibility to sort through a month's worth of posts on the off-chance you might have threaded. ► Every Monday this schedule will be updated with the Quidditch scores for the week. Yes, we frequently forget. If that happens, just make up whatever you want. After that, it's all on you to talk about your games, what happened in them, etc. The team bios page has a list of both in-game and OC players on the teams. If you want to make up names for the other players on your team, just drop box the names and pbs to us, and we'll get them on the list. ► Any plot ideas or events? We're not requiring you to come up with one, but if you have any, we'd love to hear them! ► Character Gains/Losses Since the last mod update, we've welcomed Marie with Padma Patil. Also, Kassi has added Seamus Finnigan and Jo's added Please type your username into the box below, then press "Friends Button." Remember to do it for each of your characters. You have to be logged into a journal to use it for that particular journal. A note about requirements. If you have an 'X' next to your name at the end-of-the-month check, you MUST meet monthly requirements at the next end-of-the-month check, or your character will be removed from the game. ► Ongoing Events The dragon pox is finally dying down and, while there's still time to get sick, the last patients will recover by mid-month. The symptoms include a green and purple rash that can leave a green tinge that lasts for several weeks after the illness is cured, bumps that may leave scars, and sparks that shoot out of the nose when a person sneezes. A cure exists, but it's not instantaneous - symptoms will continue to persist (and, in fact, get worse) for a few days. There is no immunisation and having previously had dragon pox has no bearing on whether or not you will get it again. Dragon pox is, obviously, potentially fatal. Very young children, the elderly, pregnant women and those who are already ill are most at risk of complications from the disease. Election season is upon us! The list of candidates for Minister for Magic will go up later today or tomorrow. Don't forget - even though we keep referring to them as "candidates," nobody is technically running for the office of Minister. The public will vote for Wizengamot members, then the Wizengamot will appoint a new Minister. The ban on new Apparation licences is still in effect, with no end date in sight. It's now expected that the ban will continue on until the end of Shacklebolt's term, when the new Minister will overturn it. Similarly, travel in muggle areas is still restricted and is expected to remain that way until a new Minister is appointed. ► Upcoming Events November 1st is All Souls Day. Wizards don't really celebrate it, but ghosts like to get together and have a bit of a party. Around Hogsmeade and London, you might spot plenty of visiting ghosts over the next couple of days. Then on November 4th it's Mischief Night. A few people like to use the opportunity to do a bit of light Muggle-baiting for amusement. November 5th is Bonfire Night. This is mostly only celebrated or acknowledge by Muggleborns, but people do like their fireworks. And weird traditions like tar barrel rolling. This year, the official display in Ottery St Mary (yes, next to Ottery St Catchpole) aren't the only ones lighting up the sky. Distinctly wizard fireworks are spotted, but when DoMLE go to investigate the source of the fireworks, all they find is Addy McLaggen. Following this, magical fireworks are banned. On November 9th, Lee Jordan is involved in a motorcycle accident in rush hour. He manages to Apparate to St Mungo's, but is spotted by a group of Muggles. To celebrate their reunion, the Weird Sisters host a small, intimate gig on November 12th at the Fiddler's Bow in Hogsmeade. Some people are given tickets by the record company (and can do what they wish with them) and there are competitions on the WWN and in the press to win tickets. [So if any character wants tickets, they'll be able to obtain them somehow!] It's full steam ahead on November 18th. There will be a train, probably members of the Wizengamot and possible Death Eater activity. And, oh yeah, the train's going to end up being diverted into a Muggle station, breaching the Statute. So tell us in the comments why your character might get on that train. On November 25th Christmas is in the air with the official lighting of the Christmas tree (and other lights) in Hogsmeade. It hasn't yet been announced who the celebrity guest will be. The moment all fans of The Toads have been waiting for comes on November 26th when they kick off their reunion tour. |
