► Mod Notes ► We'd like to ask you to use the drop box instead of AIM if you have a question concerning plot or another character. Don't get us wrong, we love to talk to you on AIM, but it's easier for both of us to be on the same page with a question or concern if it's in a place where both of us can reference it. ► Any other plot ideas or events? We're not requiring you to come up with one, but if you have any, we'd love to hear them! ► Quidditch! We know. You're excited. We're excited to, so this is how this is going to work: every Monday this schedule will be updated with the scores for the week. After that, it's all on you to talk about your games, what happened in them, etc. The team bios page has a list of both in-game and OC players on the teams. If you want to make up names for the other players on your team, just drop box the names and pbs to us, and we'll get them on the list. ► Part of being active is knowing what's going on in the game, so reading and responding to the mod updates is very important. ► The List has not been finalised yet, but we're working on it. It is open to family members if you'd like to volunteer. Please remember these people will have been on the list since January. Comment if you'd like to add them, and give us the reason why they were put on the List. Check this post for reference if you need to. ► OSTENDO. Please join it. If you're reacting to NEW events, you can be recruited. If there's nothing new tipping you over, you're already in. It's not all stealing and killing and shady. A great big deal of it is simply just helping to foster good Muggle feelings in the Wizarding community. OSTENDO's a pretty big part of the game, and in the upcoming months, it's going to be the focus of a lot of plot. It would be great if pro-Muggle characters could be a part of that. ► Character Gains/Losses In the second half of August, Sarah joined us with Astoria Greengrass and Spoon brought us Hannah Abbott! Please type your username into the box below, then press "Friends Button." Remember to do it for each of your characters. You have to be logged into a journal to use it for that particular journal. A note about requirements. If you have an 'X' next to your name at the end-of-the-month check, you MUST meet monthly requirements at the next end-of-the-month check, or your character will be removed from the game. ► Ongoing Events The ban on new Apparation licences is still in effect, with no end date in sight. Several Death Eaters are hiding among us, with no clue as to who they might be. As you might imagine, this is a big, scary deal. React accordingly. Also, please note that all the hidden Death Eaters are on the list and have been since January. ► Upcoming Events On September 3rd, Travers, a Death Eater who evaded capture after the war, is captured in Muggle London after a fight with LES officers. An unknown man escapes from LES. Once in custody, Travers is interrogated both with and without Veritaserum. Over the course of the interrogation, Travers reveals that he and the other Death Eaters who were presumed dead actually used magic to make already-dead bodies resemble theirs. Then they left for a while to establish new identities before coming back to Wizarding Britain. In light of the Notting Hill incident, as well as the capture of Travers in a public area, the Minister will reinstate the travel restrictions on September 5th. A reminder: the restrictions prohibit foot traffic through Muggle areas unless designated to by the Ministry. Flying is still permitted. The restrictions apply to the top Muggle settlements. This is IMPORTANT, so pay attention: 1) ANY character who enters a restricted Muggle area will be found out and will face consequences. They don't have to be caught by someone in-game, but they do have to be caught and get into some trouble. 2) The restrictions will only adversely affect those with significant Muggle ties. For example: Ginny Weasley might disagree with the restrictions, but she won't be affected by them. Kevin Entwhistle, on the other hand, will be severely limited in his interactions with his family. Let us know that you have read and understand these two points. If you have questions or concerns about how affected your character will be, come see us. On September 7th, Travers confesses that the person who escaped when he was apprehended was a Death Eater, and that he knows the identities of at least five others, including Evan Rosier. He is either unwilling or unable to name names, and after Veritaserum and other interrogation efforts net no usable information from Travers, a list of those who were not present in society or at the Battle of Hogwarts, but who later came back, is drawn up and these people begin to be interrogated. Your character, if they fit that profile (Leanne, Rosier, Penelope, Justin) will be brought in for questioning. Please comment to let us know if we've overlooked you. Tipped off to the fact that those interrogated are given Veritaserum, and that his name is on the list of suspects, Evan Rosier steals the supply of Truth Serum and, for his own motivations, places it in the water at Swirls. From September 12th - September 16th, ALL drinks at Swirls will be contaminated with Truth Serum. We're looking for volunteers! People dosed with Veritaserum will be affected the entire week, from the 12th to the 16th. Volunteers will be forced to answer all questions truthfully, although those truths might be coloured by the individuals personal knowledge and point of view. For example, Pansy is not actually better than everyone but, under Veritaserum, she would still say that she is. Also, Veritaserum cannot give a person knowledge that they don't already have. Because of the uncontrolled dose and the fact that none of the victims know for certain what's going on, they will not be able to counteract its effects. Though all Ministry work information will be protected by magic. Padma will not give away secrets about Unspeakables, Ron will not comment on ongoing cases, Megan will not tell you how much trouble your coworker has been in. Not everybody who volunteers will necessarily get dosed. This will depend on the number of volunteers and the secrets they have to share, so we'll be evaluating on a case-by-case basis. On September 15th, Travers will go on trial. The trial will be swift, and a guilty verdict returned on Friday the 16th, with deliberations on punishment to start immediately. By the end of the day Friday it becomes clear that the Wizengamot is in great contention over what to do with Travers, with about half advocating for the Dementor's Kiss, not performed since the end of the war, and the other half advocating for isolation inside Azkaban. They debate all day Monday, and on Tuesday the 20th, a final vote puts them split 25-25. The Minister only votes in the event of a tie, and he casts the deciding vote for the Kiss. It is performed immediately after the vote. The first Dementor's Kiss since the end of the war sends shockwaves through the community. The escape of the DE, the capture of Travers, the restrictions, and now the Kiss? Many members of the community urge their Wizengamot members to take action. On September 23rd, a Wizengamot member calls for a vote of no-confidence in Kingsley Shacklebolt. Any member of the Wizengamot can call for a no-confidence vote, and many do to express their particular displeasure with an action of the Minister. Voting only occurs if there is a second, and usually, the vote is taken quickly with no-fanfare; the Minister passes, and the Wizengamot member can tell his constituents that he did all he could. In this particular case however, there is a second, then a third, then a fourth - and so it crescendos. Debate begins immediately and news quickly percolates through the Wizarding world that the Minister is at serious risk of failing this vote. After 5 contentious days of debate and politicking, the vote of no-confidence in the Minister is held on September 27th. He fails the no-confidence vote, immediately throwing the Wizarding world into a state of shock. Elections are mandated to be called at least 60 but no more than 70 days from the time of the vote. The month ends with much of the Wizarding world still in shock; Death Eaters are still out there, the restrictions are up, and the once-beloved Kingsley Shacklebolt has now been thrown out of office. |
