Brian
There was a sign neatly taped to Brian's door. It said, simply:

<--
Tea, biscuits, heat pads and sympathy this way.

Beneath which was a comic-style sketch of a muddy Brian stumbling toward a pile of provisions. It was clear enough who had left the message, though Teddy hadn't signed his name.

Brian pursed his lips for a moment, then said, "I'm glad you don't think I'm a prick, Teddy. Really."

It suddenly occured to Teddy that he'd sort of freaked out on Brian there. "Okay. Um. Sorry."

"Don't be sorry. It was...well, sweet, actually." Brian had never had a friend who could be described as sweet.

"It was a little manic. I guess I just don't like people beating up on you."

"I need someone to protect my honor," Brian said. "Especially since I'm unwilling to do it myself."

"Can I protect it from you, too?"

"You already are." Brian smiled, and this time there was no flirtatiousness, only affection. "My knight in shining armor."

Teddy concentrated a moment, and then he was in shining armor--beautifully detailed, carefully designed, perfectly gleaming armor.

"Show-off," Brian commented with a laugh.

He lifted a hand, suddenly holding a flag with Brian's family crest on it. Teddy solemnly waved it.

Brian threw a cookie at him. "Suck up too!"

Teddy dodged with a laugh, getting rid of the flag. "Just toward people I like," he said with a broad, crooked grin.
