Sirius did not apologise easily. It had been days since he'd last spoken to Remus, though he had been calmer since speaking with James. These past few days had been spent in quiet consideration, forcing himself to understand before he'd go to him. He had come to the conclusions he should have come to at the very beginning. He didn't want to go to Remus and explain himself, he didn't want to become desperate for Remus to forgive him.
The house became quiet. Sirius had transformed one of the spare rooms into a bedroom, his bed faced determinedly away from the hanging tapestry detailing his ancestors. For the first time since he'd arrived here, he transformed into the dog. He knelt down onto his front legs, arching his spine in a delightful stretch that ruffled his fur into place.
He padded along the hall way, carefully working his way down a set of stairs and towards Regulus' room. The door was thankfully slightly open, and he nudged it with his nose. He could smell Remus as soon as he crossed the threshold, and moved quietly towards the bed. Slow, shallow breathing suggested that Remus was sleeping.
Sirius lifted his front paws up, so that he was leaning against the bed. He found Remus' hand and nudged against it with his cold, wet nose.
