The 10th Doctor (Now with added Donna!) ([info]stillthedoctor) wrote in [info]tempus_alt,

[ooc: Tag Donna]

At the risk of becoming a creepy stalker, he’s been running into Donna a bit on purpose, more than once. They’ve met twice more in the bakery, once at the Castle, and once at the astronomy wing. It’s been grand, re-kindling their friendship, but he knows she’s wondering why he sometimes looks at her so sadly, even as he smiles.

Unbeknownst to her, but with a bit of help from her granddad (Good old Wilf, swiping Donna’s brush!) he’s gotten a sample of her DNA. Evaluation leads to the discovery that her DNA is still changing. That the regeneration energy has made hers look oddly like his. Not the slightly slowed aging, he doesn’t think, but there is definitely Time Lord in her very genes as well as locked in her mind. After his success with Jenny, he’s confident that if he can just get in her mind, he can sort it all out, bring her back without burning her brain.

Sitting on the steps, looking out at the Plass, he dials her mobile. “Donna! Hello! It’s John. Look, it’s a lovely day, and I’m at the Plass, you know, by the Millennium Center? Yes, that’s right. Anyway, I was wondering if you’d like to come…spend the afternoon with me? Maybe get some ice cream…” Once she says yes, he hangs up, looking around with a sigh. Once she remembers, she’s going to deck him for pretty much asking her on a date.

"He's great, as spritely as ever. Yup, still waitin for more spaceships and all that nonsense.." she waved her arms a bit and shrugged her shoulder. "I guess it's all right? I mean I'm a little confused, but men usually confuse me." Wasn't that the truth? Something he wanted her to see? "Lead the way, skinny boy.." Insulting even when she didn't know him.

"Well, I seem to have that effect. Confusing people, I mean. I don't think it's just a...man thing. Or a you thing." He smiled softly at the "insult", turning towards the newstand. "It's just right over here...past that, ah, newstand..." He starts walking, turning to make sure she's following.

That was for sure. It was good to know that he had this effect on a lot of people. "Right then.." she started to follow him to wherever he was taking her. Though she was a little nervous, she didn't know what the heck he was up to.

He stops, leaning against the edge of the newstand, right next to a door. "Hold on just a tic here..." As soon as she is in front of him, and the door, he pushes it open, and waits for her to see the much bigger inside. If he's right, the TARDIS will be familiar enough to trigger her self defense mechanism...at least disorienting her, at worst knocking her out.

"I'm so sorry, Donna..."

There was a flash of something as she got up to the blue police box, and she frowned. "What.. a blue.. police box? This is what you have to show me?" she looked a little confused. There was another flash. Space. A big spider. Pompeii? What in the world? "John.. Mr. Smith I.." Then he opened the door and she peeked inside. The TARDIS. Then whoosh, it felt like something hit her like a ton of bricks and down she went, blackness overtaking her.

He dives to catch her as she falls, quickly dragging her inside and setting her gently onto the floor. "Oh, Donna, you are going to slap me so hard when you wake up...I'm so sorry!" He grabs a wire from the console, plugging it into the psychic enhancement machinery. He wobbles slightly as it sparks. "Whoa! That's a bit stronger this time. Clears the sinuses!"

He sits on the floor beside Donna, shaking his head. "Let's just hope I'm as clever as I think we are." He presses his hands to her temples and reels as he's pulled in to her whirling thoughts. He starts trying to organize them, breaking down the walls the other him built while building new ones to hold different pieces. "Stay with me, Donna! If we can just wall off the full Timelord parts. If I can handle all these bits of you, you can handle some bits of me! Just...have to...get...selective..."

As the Doctor took care of all of the timey-wimey bits in Donna's head, her mind was racing somewhere deep inside her consciousness. All of those things that were buried deep inside, and wiped from her mind were kind of rushing back towards the surface. Somewhere she remembers the adipose, and Daleks, and all of time and space. All being sorted and yet crammed in that tiny human brain of hers.

Just as the Doctor thought that he had gotten it all sorted out, Donna's eyes fluttered open and she gasped, rolling over and starting to cough like she had just been underwater for a very long time. "Oh blimey my head.." she muttered, putting her hands on her head, feeling more than a bit woozy. "What the.."

He gasps as she pulls away, clutching his own head. "Ow. Ow ow ow ow. Blimey, that's a wicked headache I'll have for days." He falls back onto the grating, suddenly too tired to sit up. "Donna?" he calls, feeling like he's about to pass out himself, "Please don't punch me..."

This whole brain transference thing was something that she was getting really really tired of. How was it that she was always getting a whale of a headache every time she was around him. It took her a moment to compose herself, though the pain in her head didn't seem to be getting any better. She blinked a bit and turned to the sound of... "Doctor?" she questioned. It was going to take her a moment to remember everything. "What in the hell have you done to me?!"

He groans, rolling over and pressing his forehead to the cool metal grating. "Fixed you...put it back." He tries to sit up but slumps back against the floor. "Though if the way I feel is any indication, we'll both have bloody awful headaches for a while." He crawls to a sitting position, leaning his back against a coral column, rubbing his hands over his face before pulling them down to really look at Donna.

It took a minute to suss out what the heck he was talking about. Her head was pounding, so it was hard to think about anything other than the fact that her head felt like it was split open. But she realized somewhere deep down that she hadn't remembered and now she did. The DoctorDonna. The TARDIS. Davros. It was all there, but it didn't feel liker he head was burning up.

She didn't say anything for a moment, but as soon as she found her strength, she hit him in the arm as hard as she could. "Oi! What did you do to me?"

He flinched. "Owwwww! I TOLD you, I fixed you! I'm not the one who just jumped to conclusions and took it all away, you can blame him for that, I would have at least tried..."

He scrunches his face a few times. "How's your head?"

Oh right, wrong Doctor. Technically Donna knew that, but her brain was all scrambled. "Sorry.. sorry I.. wait, no I'm not sorry! You bloody well asked me out on a date. That's just.. creepy." Besides, no one asked her out on dates. Donna made a face, and then sighed.

"It feels like I've been banging my head on the Great Frozen Tundra of Galhoon," she told him with a look. "And I've never even been there."

"Well it wasn't REALLY a date, but I had to get you here...needed the help of..." he gestures, then finally stands, leaning on the console as he pulls wires back out and flips a switch on the device. "Of that. Oh, that's much better. A bit less...poundy."

He can't help a small smile. "Oh, I wouldn't recommend it...it really is dreadfully frozen solid."

"Well of course it wasn't a real date, because if you really asked me out I would have laughed in your face." Though that sounded horrible, that's probably what Donna would do. As the switch was flipped, Donna relaxed and stopped holding onto her head. "Much, much better."

She gave him a Look. "I am going to strangle him when I see him. If I see him. Is he actually around? Or.. wait, how did you get back here then? We left you and Rose on the alternate universe."

"Well of course it wasn't a real date, I never would have asked you!" He rubs his temple. "Oh, good, did that help? No more psychic boost. It's helpful, but, oh, it's a bit strong, isn't it?"

"Not right at the moment, but..." he breaks out in a grin, "Oh! Well, took your advice! Shatterfried the plasmic shell and modified the dimensional stabiliser to a foldback harmonic of 36.3...and a few other little tricks, and got this!" he gestures around them, "Our new TARDIS. And then I just modified the technology of Rose's dimension cannon, and...wham! Here we are!"

"Oi, there's nothing wrong with asking me on a date, don't act like it's the end of the world," she mumbled, looking a bit cross. But she did look relieved that the immense pressure was gone from her head. "Helpful but strong, yeah that's a word for it. Like a kick in the head, that is."

Of course he wasn't around. "He doesn't know you've gone and done this has he?" Because he never would have let the other him go and find Donna. No way. Donna glanced around a bit and realized that they were in fact in the TARDIS. "So I see, well good on you then, making another one of her.." she leaned forward and patted the console. "But why did you come back? Is something bad happening again? Do I need to save the day?"

"Well of course there's not! But I happen to be engaged, and engaged people don't just wander around asking their mates on dates." Okay, that may not be entirely true, but this is Donna, who to him is pretty much his sister. Or mother. Or...oh, there's that headache again.

"And no, I'm not bloody likely to involve Mister-High-and-Righteous-Who-Knows-Better-Than-Everyone-Including-Himself." He grins when she touches the console and the ship hums lightly in recognition. "No, no, just a social call. Wanted to give Rose the choice, of both worlds. Always did want to give her everything. And...I may have had a point to prove. To him." His face hardens just for a moment before the grin stretches across his face again. "Oh, Donna Noble, ready to save the universe again!" He jumps forward abruptly and wraps her in a hug. "I've missed you so much, you daft Earth girl."

"Engaged? Well good on you then," she said with a shrug. The whole thing was weird. Because yeah she was like a sister-mom thing. Yeah. Headache. That's why she didn't want to think about it.

Donna was glad that he felt about his other self the way that Donna was feeling towards him. "Good, if I see him, I'm going to hit him. A lot." She ah'd a bit, figuring that it was good on him to figure out how to get between worlds again. "At least I'm not dying, guess that's something to be thankful about." She tried to look happy, but she wasn't quite sure if she was. Well no, she was. But the whole thing was a lot to process. Before she knew what was going on, he had her in a hug. And finally she put her arms around him to hug him back. "I've missed you too, silly alien boy. I've missed me too."

He grins. "Oh...oh this is brilliant! You can come to the wedding now! I mean, when we plan it. Which we haven't." He steps back, still grinning. "I know this is a lot to handle all at once. It's gonna take some time to feel quite yourself again. But...oh, this is so much better than not remembering, isn't it?"

"Wedding, I.. I'm not very good with weddings, not even other people's." Much less her own. "But I'll come if you want me to." Only for him. "It's.. it's much better, yes. But it's, you're right. It's a bit overwhelming." And she wasn't quite sure how to feel about it all. About the other Doctor, or any of this. "Too bad there's no bloody Time Lord therapy sessions."

"Oh don't be silly! Who isn't good at weddings? I'M no good at weddings, but it's mine, so I guess I don't really get an option. What are basing that on? Of course I want you there!" He watches her with concern, though he can't keep the smile completely off his face. "Oh, trust me, you think I never shut up? The Gallifreyan equivalent of therapy? We'd be there for days at a time. But we'll work through it all together, yeah? Doctor Donna."

"Well I wasn't any good before, and now with you well, I'm twice as bad," she said with a sigh. "I'm basing that on the fact that something bad is bound to happen. It always does with weddings, remember? If you'd like a smooth wedding, maybe you'd best not send me an invite." She gave him a pointed look. "Right then, no therapy for either one of us. Together though, I suppose. Though it's hardly fair. Each of you has a TARDIS and I'm stuck here on Earth, by myself."

He can't help a chuckle. "You're forgetting how much trouble tends to find me, regardless. Doesn't matter if it's a wedding, or who is there. Smooth is probably out of the question."

Oh. He hadn't really thought about that, had he? "Well, I'm sure we can arrange trips in mine from time to time. And I'm sure that once he knows you're all back, I'm sure he'll jump at the chance to have his best mate back. I would. I am! See, this is me, jumping!" He makes a little hop, then grabs his head. "Oh, not the best idea, that. Anyway, Donna Noble, as if anyone could keep you stuck anywhere now. And you'll find things to do here, too! Oh, your granddad is gonna be thrilled..."

"Fine then, have a wedding if you want to go and do.. all of that.." her nose wrinkled a bit. But of course that was why they had brought him and Rose together in the first place as it was. She couldn't complain too much.

She just gave him this Look. The Look he knew so well. "Trips from time to time? That is ridiculous.." Though she did look forward to seeing the other Doctor. Her very best friend. Well the one that wasn't standing in front of her. She shook her head when he started to jump. "Don't jump, you're even making my head hurt. And I'm still mad at him, and even if he's overjoyed to see me.. that doesn't mean he's. Well has he found someone else yet?" she was curious. Her granddad would be thrilled. "They've been looking after me, making sure I don't run into you all the bloody time."

"Oh, we'll turn that attitude around yet, just wait. You'll be leading the conga line." He grins.

His hand snakes into the mess of hair on his head, scratching. "Well, I mean...I'm sure that we can...I don't...no, I don't think he has. Not that we've talked a lot, mind, but there wasn't anyone with him, and I think that would have come up..."

He shakes his head, "Well, no more worries there! You can run into me all you'd like! If you'd like, I mean."

"There is no bloody way I am leading a conga line, even if you give me a lot to drink. Mark my words," she gave him a saucy look, one that shouldn't be messed with.

She hm'd a bit, "Guess we'll come to that when we come to that. I'm not quite sure what.. what I should be doing."

Donna shook her head, "I'm not going to be a third wheel with you and Rose. Or him and.. whomever."

"Word marked, Miss Noble." He winks, "It'll probably be me leading the line anyway. Or, who am I kidding, Jack seems pretty likely. You'll find something to do. I'll help. Jack can help. It'll all get sorted."

He scratches the back of his head, looking awkward. "Well, if anything, it's possible you'd be a fifth wheel, but really that's beside the point, you're not getting in the way of anything. And I told you, he's alone. He needs you. And I may have people, but I need you too. You're my best mate!"

Donna gave a snort of amusement, "Jack is probable. Oh is he around? I mean have you been in contact with him?" well she had to ask. She wouldn't have been Donna if she hadn't asked after the gorgeous man. "If Jack will help, I'll do anything he'd like."

Fifth wheel. Oh yes, that sounded way more fun than just being third. She narrowed her eyes, "I'm not being a fifth wheel Doctor. And you know as well as I do that you've told loads of women they're your best friend. Not falling for that again." She hmph'd and crossed her arms in front of her. "You sure I'll be all right again?"

"Donna, right outside this Tardis, underneath that water tower out there, is a giant secret facility that Jack is in charge of. Guaranteed there's something he'd like you for." he makes a face at how that comes out sounding. He clears his throat. "So yes, I've been in...contact. Rather constant. A lot of contact."

"Well, I didn't actually mean that like that...just that I promised Ianto and Jack a ride at some point..." he grins at her, "But Donna, you ARE my best mate! And there's the whole ME and you thing, the DNA and the brain and the you...me...you...of COURSE you are." He reaches out to hold her shoulders, looking in her arms. "You'll be fine. Perfectly fine." He grins again. "Molto bene! Absolutely wizard!"

He was just full of innuendo that day wasn't he? Donna's lips continued to just smirk right up at him. "Giant secret facility and lots of contact? Well Doctor, you certainly know how to impress a lady. Even if that does sound a bit dirty. I just bet you didn't mean it like that." Ha, yeah right. "You promised Jack and Ianto a ride. Right."

If she'd been younger, she would have been the blushing type. Not so much anymore. Especially now that she was whole again. "I'm you, you're me, yes Doctor. You're my other half. My very best friend. Literally. I'm not sure how to deal with that." It sounded tiring. "We're back to liking Molto bene again? Well all right then. If we're all ready to go, show me this giant secret facility of Jack's."

He blurts out without stopping himself, "And what if I did mean it like that? And what? I can't offer rides! It's MY Tardis. Well, ours. Mine and Rose."

"Well, I always liked molto bene. Or, well, it always slips in, at any rate." He grins, leaning closer to lower his voice and waggle his brows conspiratorially. "Come on, best mate of mine, I'll show you Jack's secret lair..."

Donna's eyebrows went up, "Well if you did mean it like that, it only means that I've rubbed off on you quite a bit." That was the only way he'd ever be dirty, was because of her. "You can offer.. rides, and anything else you want, to anyone. I'm just along for.. well you know." She tried not to smirk.

Though she remembered the time where he didn't want to say those words at all, she just grinned and shook her head. "It's like looking in the mirror, space boy. Show me the secret lair, then we'll figure out what's what."
