	Alex shot a scowl at her, before dropping his gaze to his hands, where he still idly turned the bannock over in. "I said it's fine." He grumbled. Then after a pause. "I have something to stop that anyway." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Snap turned his head, spotted the bannock being played with, and bounced to his feet. Trotting over, he planted himself firmly in Alex's line of sight, wagged, waited....waited....(staring intently at Alex's face)...waited....

And finally barked, once, impatiently.

Instantly, DP spoke up. "Don't give it to him." He hesitated, then, with a shrug, "...at least, not without taking a bite of it first, and then making him work for it. Otherwise, you're letting him be the boss and you'll never live it down." He smiled, just a little.

Brown eyes flicked to the side to look at Snap and Alex merely quirked an eyebrow at the dog. He didn't react to what DP said but that didn't mean he hadn't heard him.

"You want the bannock?" He asked Snap, glancing from the bannock in his hand and back to the dog, eyebrow still raised. "Hmm...surely you don't really?" He murmured, lifting the bannock slightly as if studying it.

Snap blinked at him, then glanced over his shoulder at his master. DP nodded, and Snap turned back to Alex, inching closer with a friendly wag of his tail. He licked his lips -- then sneezed, emphatically, head lowering as he peered up at the other man, a low, rumbling whine rising from his throat. After a moment, he dropped into a down-position -- and sneezed again, emphatically.

DP hid a smile, watching to see what happened next.

	"Really? Huh." Alex frowned at the bannock before taking a small bite of it, chewing but instead of swallowing, tucked it behind his back teeth. "S'pose you having it is better than wasting it." He commented, starting to hold it out for Snap to take before retracting it again. "If you're sure you really want it though..." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Snap leapt to his feet when the bannock was held out to him -- then dropped back into the down when it was taken away. He stared in incredulous exasperation at the human who was refusing him the treat he demanded -- and decided to do something about it.

He coughed out a soft bark, once, and then his head tipped, his toes dug into the floor as he braced -- and DP coughed, glared and muttered a sharp "ah ah!".

Instantly, Snap's ears pinned themselves to his broad skull and he flattened himself to the floor. He glanced over his shoulder at his master (DP shook his head, glaring) and heaved out a great sigh. Then he looked at Alex again, still hopeful, tail wagging cheerfully, jaws gaping in a happy smile. Bouncing to his feet again, he dropped a shoulder and all but dove into the roll, exposing his belly, then rolling all the way over, his barrel-round ribs making it an easy and flowing motion before he bounced to his feet again. Plunking his rear onto the floor he reached up with one paw and slapped, hard, at Alex's knee, barking again, a high, excited squeak of sound, before sneezing once more, paw resting roughly on Alex's knee as he waited.

DP grinned, shook his head, and went back to his own meal, quickly clearing the few bits left on his own plate.

Alex's eyes briefly flicked over to look at DP, not missing the interaction with Snap. Reverting his gaze back to the dog, he snorted in amusement as he rolled and bit his lip to hold back a small laugh. He partially winced at the paw on his knee, the lack of 'padding' in ways of fat on his thin body causing it to hurt slightly.

He rolled his eyes. "God, if you're gonna practically beg..." He muttered; withheld humour just detectable in his tone; and held the bannock out properly for the dog to take.

	"Be easy!" DP didn't even look up, using his own bannock to scrape gravy from his plate. Snap's ears flicked, and a string of drool eased from his jaws as he hesitated, then, vveerrryyyyyy delicately nipped the bannock out of Alex's hand. ...it was gone in less than a blink, and Snap sat and wagged at Alex again, clearly expecting more. 	"Sorry. That's all you're getting from me." Alex said, holding both hands up, fingers spread and palms facing Snap, to show they were empty. "You'll have to scrounge it off of some other poor sap." He added, finally swallowing the piece in his mouth; that had all but dissolved on his tongue, so it didn't hurt as much when he swallowed this time. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

It took a moment, and a second call from Sally, before Snap's unwavering focus, well, wavered. His head turned and he looked at her, then went back to staring at Alex.

...then he apparently realised what she was offering, looked again, and bounced to his feet, trotting quickly over, tail wagging, to plop down in front of the woman instead. Ears pricked, his head tilted as he waited for her to give him his tribute.

DP hissed softly as he watched, but Snap just twitched, his front feet coming off the floor, before he realised the carrot was not coming at him -- then he settled and watched, a string of drool easing its way to the floor.

DP relaxed slightly, but decided to offer a bit of advice. "...he's not afraid of using you as a springboard, just so you know." He shrugged. "...and sometimes he forgets humans don't have fur."

Snap just kept his eyes on the carrot, nearly cross-eyed with focus.

	Alex snorted and shrugged, it was nothing to do with him. After all, he wasn't planning on staying for long. He reached out and plucked the other bannock off the plate near him, breaking a small bit off and putting it in his mouth - doing the same as he did with the last piece, to make it easier to swallow.
