Main Room- Medical Issues
The University still stands huge and imposing, it's halted building work torn apart to help with fortifications.
Inside there is a large open space, where can foods clothing and medical supplies stand stacked not far away from a huge noisy generator.
Upstairs sits an old media centre from which the broadcast flows.
Some precious electricity is given over to an old CD player, playing constantly in an attempt to drown out the noise

"Guys the food's up, we're in the...Indie?" Sally resisted the urge to call out for DP, not seeking strength in a man she'd just met.

"Look the Doc says he can fix her, so I'm gonna go eat." Kara announced wandering in the direction of the conference room.

Alex blinked in slight bemusement as Kara walked off. He rose from the stretcher and walked cautiously out into the main room, quirking an eyebrow at Sally. "Seriously...I thought I had an attitude problem."

Sally shrugged "Kara has control issues...Can I help?" Her chin wobbled slightly

Alex rubbed a hand across his face and sighed. "Her with the issues said the wound's on her right side, that right?" He asked. "Maybe you could show me? If she's unresponsive."

"It's..." Sally peeled apart India's clothing to reveal a makeshift dressing on India's side.
"She wouldn't tell us, she knows we need her so she just kept going."

"Do you have any warm water?" Alex asked, glancing briefly at the dressing before moving back over to the 'med zone' to get some things out of his bag. "If not, doesn't matter, any water'll do. And a cloth?"

Sally disappeared into the kitchen, reappearing a moment later with a bowl of cold water and a slightly worse for wear cloth.

Alex moved back over to India, glasses back on and cut off the old dressing. He frowned but didn't make a comment, wordlessly taking the bowl of water and cloth; to which he quirked an eyebrow at; from her. He ripped open the top on a small packet and poured it in the water, mixing the bowl until the substance dissolved. "..salt.." He muttered in case Sally was wondering, before damping the wet cloth over the wound.

Alex nodded. "Nothing serious, it really is just a flesh wound." He replied, his tone falling easily into the professional monotone one again. "One end of the laceration is deeper, typical really, the projectile's initial force is here and decreases as it grazes across the skin...it'll need closing." He muttered, squeezing the cloth so salt water went into the wound. "Signs of infection...may need draining if the salt doesn't cleanse it. Healing's been slowed...probably from the use of alcohol. It tends to clean the wound but also slows down the rate of healing. Salt water or even just soap is better." He dropped the cloth back into the bowl of water. "Can you dry the area while I get some sutures ready?" He asked, although it was more of a statement than a question and he didn't even look at her as he spoke.

"I'm not great at this sort of stuff, but...draining? How the hell are we gonna do that? Sally said, slowly walking towards her fallen friend with a length of cloth torn from the curtain.

"It's not actually..." Alex shook his head. "If it needs draining, usually you soak the wound in a disinfectant solution; although salt water can work as a substitute; to soften the skin at the wound's edges, usually the water is as hot as the patient can tolerate. Then you pry open the wound and clean it out with swabs and gauze.." He explained, shrugging as he did.

He pressed his lips together, brow furrowing in thought. "I won't stitch the wound just yet. Make sure the slight infection clears first...if it doesn't and it ends up needing draining than the sutures will have to be taken out anyway." He muttered, seemingly more to himself than Sally, as he moved back over - a roll of fresh dressing in his hand.

"Wouldn't that hurt like hell, without anaesthetic, which we don't have?" Sally asked, looking more than a little green.

"Most probably." Alex replied in a matter-of-fact tone, as he started redressing India's wound. "Of course, with anaesthesia unavailable there's other ways to numb the skin. Probably still be pain, but in the long run, that's better than just leaving the wound to get infected and spreading to internal organs."

"Can we not do either of those?" Came India's slurred response.

Alex started slightly as India spoke, before finishing wrapping the wound and moved away. "The infection is only slight. As long as the wound's cleaned and redressed regularly and doesn't get any worse in a day or two then it should be fine." He muttered, putting the spare dressing back in his bag and zipping it up. "It'll still need closing with sutures though...do that when it's definite that the risk of infection has lessened."

"It's not so much for the pain, rather to keep the inflammation down so the infection doesn't get worse." Alex pointed out, still holding the packet out to her. "And I'm fine." He added, propping his glasses back up on the top of his head.
