Two Little Boys
Who: Dale and Evan
What: Family Reunion
When: 10.17.11 - Monday morning
Where: Peach
Warnings: Shouldn't be any
At his mother's behest, Dale had finally relented and put an ad in the paper for help though he had some doubts that anyone would apply. Even if they did hire someone, he had his concerns. People they had hired in the past had turned out to be not exactly what they appeared. On several occasions he had to let people go for various reasons. In the end, it had simply been easier to try and do everything himself, but there was really too much to do. Dale didn't mind and never would, but there was some sense in what his parents--as his father had also started in on him about it--were saying.
Since they were well into the Peach's normal hours of business, the door was unlocked, and Dale was in one of the viewing rooms making some last minute touches to the decor that needed to be in place before the viewing that was scheduled in a few hours time. One of the spirits was following along with him, making the occasional, helpful comment about the placement of a chair or whether something was slightly out of alignment. Dale thanked her each and every time though sometimes they discussed the pros and cons of a change before he made it. Sometimes they made a change only to come back and correct it after a few moment's time. It was a process that could have driven other people crazy, but it was one that he thoroughly enjoyed.
When he heard the door, Dale held up a hand. "I'll be back," he said to the spirit and then started for the main foyer. "Hello. One moment please. I'll be right there."
He was glad that there was nothing in his hands because he surely would have dropped it when he walked into the hall and saw who was waiting for him there. As it was he had to stop himself from immediately going for the basement stairs so he could hide himself away in the embalming room. It had been years, but he would have recognized that face anywhere, anywhen. Some things you never forgot.
OOC: Sorry for the delay. Feel free to poke me for edits if needed.
