Narrative/Thread: Where the heart is
Date: June 11, Afternoon
Characters: Jadyn and Pollux
Location: United States Airspace/Eastern Kentucky
Summary: Jadyn finally goes home
Jadyn couldn't be happier when her zone was called for her to board her plane. It was her final flight before she finally touched down in Kentucky and while traveling first class was always nice (an upgrade courtesy of her agency for her having to stay in Egypt and extra week and a half), after spending over eighteen hours on planes and in airport terminals, all she wanted was to get home.
As she took her seat, she contemplated her current situation. She loved her job, she did. She loved that it gave her the opportunity to 'stretch her legs' so that she wouldn't feel restless staying in one place. It also made her happy to know that she was helping not only Pollux but Jaime as well by taking his place in their father's travel agency. But recently going to places like Cairo and Saint Petersburg had seemed more like a chore than a luxury.
Jadyn wasn't naive as to why she'd begun feeling that way though. It was the farm, or rather living on the farm with Pollux and Quinn. Of course being with them made her happy in of itself, but on the farm Jadyn experienced a type a freedom she couldn't replicate anywhere else. She was living in a bubble where she could do just about anything she wanted and it was spoiling her for the rest of the world outside of that bubble. Outside of her home she had to keep up appearances which was becoming more tedious with each trip she took and it was becoming a problem.
Planes for instance; she hated flying now, or rather being trapped in an over-sized tin can with strangers for long amounts of time. It was almost unbearable compared to her being able to fly all on her own. But she couldn't do that anywhere but on the farm. Not unless she wanted the government tracking down her family. And then she would be in serious trouble because there was no way in hell she would let anyone hurt the people she loved.
Deciding not to go down that mental path, Jadyn put on her noise cancelling headphones. She was two hours away from home and she had a few months before her next job in which to figure out what she would do. So for now she would just try to relax and enjoy the ride.
Stepping out of the airport two and a half hours later Jadyn started to feel lighter, like she could breathe easier now that she was almost home. Fifty more miles or so and she would be whole again. Hefting her backpack (the only luggage she had) onto her shoulder, she began walking towards town. She walked until she was in an area where she was certain no one was around before cutting into the woods where she started to pick up the pace before she was running at full speed.
it didn't take her long after that to pick up Pollux and Quinn's faint scents, guiding her the rest of the way home. When she finally made it she lingered on the edge of the tree line surrounding the farm, looking for signs that anyone was outside. She hadn't told them when she was coming because she hadn't exactly known, but now that she was there, she couldn't help wanting to make her appearance a fantastic surprise.
After rounding the side of the house, Jadyn spotted Pollux working in the fields. A kind of giddiness washed over her as she watched him, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. Finally she got her opening when he turned, his back facing her. Jadyn pounced. Swift and silent she cut through the field and when she was close enough, she called out his name loudly just before she leaped for him.
