Here she comes in her palanquin, on the back of an elephant
March 4th
Dae + Parthenope
TBD (probs low) | Ongoing
It was cold--not bitter, nasty cold, but still, chilly--but Parthenope couldn't help herself. It was difficult to be so close to the ocean and yet, not in it. There was nothing really keeping her out of this stretch of sea except that it wasn't home and it made her sad, but she could at least still sit outside and watch it. Since her nights were typically filled with her work at the Arcade, her mornings were spent relaxing more often than not. Or running errands, but really what sort of errands really needed to be run on such a small island? And how many of them took that much time? No, even on the busiest of days, she could often be found in their back yard for a good part of the morning and early afternoon watching the ocean and waiting for her shift to begin.
The trouble with that was, of course, the current chill in the air, but that was where the van der Zee twin's extensive collection of blankets (curated, of course, by Parthenope herself for the most part), and the cozy beach fire pit outside their home crackling away, crashing waves almost hypnotically soothing in the background. It was an odd time of year to see anyone else walking along the beach, however, so she really almost did believed she'd been lulled into a dream between the fire and the waves, but as their form drew closer, she gave her arm a small pinch just to be sure she wasn't dreaming. Ah, no. Not dreaming at all. There really was someone walking along the cold beach. How unusual. A kindred spirit! They were still too far for her to make them out, but she gave a small wave in any case. It was neighborly, wasn't it?
