Date: August 6, 1997
Characters: Cassius and Janelle
Location: Misty Missy's Tea House
Status: Private
Summary: So he wanted some tea..
Completion: InComplete

Cassius never fancied himself much of a partier, or a time waster. What he preferred was intelligent conversation sprinkled in with a bit of wit and sarcasm. If given that he was generally pleased by the outcome. If the person was ignorant they rarely warranted a second glance or even polite conversation. However what he loved more than conversation was watching people around him.

Didn't matter if they were scholars or fools, Cassius enjoyed watching them go about their day as if he didn't exist. He would make up stories about them in his head and what he felt they were doing whatever sordid affairs they were carrying on while their significant others were away.

He was enjoying just such a day when he wandered into a tea shop he visited time and again. Cassius didn't go just for the tea however, a friend of his, if you could call her that, worked there. Cassius took his seat near the window with a view of the alley and ordered strong tea no sugar. There he sat waiting for the waitress to arrive which he assumed would be his usual girl.

On the table was a paper someone had left behind, and Cassius had been browsing the day's headlines as he waited for Janelle to arrive. She was like clock work, which he wouldn't complain about. If anything he enjoyed her company and she was certainly easy on the eyes. Cassius had a tendency of flirting with the girls who helped in the shop but they knew better than to take away time from his waitress.

"Surprised? You shouldn't be." Work had been quite busy lately and he hadn't taken adequate time to himself or for her. They saw each other whenever he came into the shop and sometimes he would walk her some place after. It was just a way for him to gain more ground. Cassius loved the chase. "Strong, good." He poured the tea and took a sip before smirking up at her, "So did you miss me?"

Janelle didn't even bother looking over at the other girls to wonder if they were judging her for sitting down, they had to know by now that when Cassius came in they manned the floor. Janelle worked hard at her job so really there was no point in complaining about it. She hadn’t taken a break so this was just her break time. Plus the place was relatively dead and if by some strange chance it got busy she would go back to work. Janelle might be a bitch underneath it all but she knew not to piss off the people that employed her.

“Sarcasm dear, have you heard of it?” Janelle raised her eyebrow at him as she leaned back in the seat and got a bit comfortable. She let her feet move out in front of her and her feet hit his. “I am sure it will be to your liking,” how could it not really. Janelle was the one who always made his tea and she made it the same as always.

“Miss you? Why would I miss you?” She asked innocently but the innocence faded as it turned into a smirk. “You know it is always a pleasure when you stop by.” Now this was the truth she did enjoy Cassius company but she was never one for throwing herself at someone’s feet unless it was for her own personal conniving gain.

It was almost comical the way she took over when he arrived in the tea shop. The two had been friends while in school, Cassius was of course preoccupied with books and quidditch and liked to avoid the pull of a girl such as Janelle. Though they had flirted before, Cassius tended to keep to himself while in school.

However as the two came of age, Cassius became more aware of her presence in the school and his surroundings. So as a tribute to foolish moves, Cassius made it his business to visit her time and again at her current place of employment. "No, never not I." Cassius allowed the paper to rest on the counter before looking up at her again.

"Why wouldn't you is more the question if anything. It has to be terrible for you when I'm not around. It's okay to feel that way Nelle." He watched her face turn into a smirk to match his own. If she wasn't throwing herself at him she was damn close. "When are you off today?" His voice remained casual as he felt her feet move towards his own.

If you had told Janelle in school that during her days of work Cassius would be showing up and she would head over and chat with him she would have laughed. Yes in school they were friends and she use to go and watch him and the other boys play quidditch. Now he showed up and talked to her more than he did before and she had to say she liked it. Now if Cassius or anyone asked if she liked it she would deny it. Janelle was not about to put herself out there just to make a fool of herself.

She did not appreciate his sarcasm and just flashed him an unenthused look before adjusting her position in the seat and running her fingers through her hair. “Oh of course I can’t bare to be without you,” she paused, “or I can manage just fine without you.” She smirked, “I personally would go with option two.”

When was she off today, well it had to be some time soon. “I think I am off in fifteen minutes, why do you want to spend time with little ol’ me?” She smiled at him curious as to his answer.

So he was all school books, and lessons. It was not a terrible thing, you see Cassius wanted to be sure he was employed in the job of his choice. There was no chance of him leaching off his father forever though he would gladly take the inheritance, the estate, and the flat. It didn't mean he would want to be on his father's short leash forever.

Cassius was too independent to be on an allowance from his father. That was not how he intended on spending his adult life. It was bad enough he allowed it to happen while he was in school. But back then he was trying to gain his acceptance. Now he had only himself to answer to.

"I knew you couldn't. You needn't explain yourself to me," he finished his cup of tea and poured another. "Than I suppose I will have to wait for fifteen more minutes yes?" He looked her in the eye as he said this holding back a laugh. "I might."

"If thinking I can't live without you helps you through the day then I suppose there is no harm in allowing you to think that." Janelle said as she looked Cassius over. She brushed some of her hair from her face as she watched him pour another cup of tea. "Well I am very honored you feel like waiting that fifteen minutes." Janelle smirked as she glanced over at the other girls who were going about their business. "If you can live without me for a few minutes I could just cash in and clean up and probably leave." Janelle shrugged her shoulders.

She leaned over the table and peeked into the pot to see how much water her had. "Would you want some more water while you wait?" She might as well be a decent waitress as she was making her friend wait. Janelle moved to stand up and smoothed out her skirt and apron.

"I knew you couldn't" he said watching her brush her hair from her eyes. "I'm sure in the long run the wait will be well worth my while." He nodded taking a sip of his tea and putting some sickles on the table. If there was one thing about Cassius he always tipped heavily when it came to her. "Suppose I can wait that long."

"No I think this will be just fine. I am just enjoying the prospect of going out for the evening. Anywhere in particular you want to go?" He quirked a brow as he looked her over.

Janelle smirked as he said in the long run, "Oh something about my friendship that will benefit you in the longer run? What is going through your head?" She smirked as she finished smoothing out her skirt as she scooped up the money from the table. She always enjoyed the fact he tipped well, she supposed she could make it up to him somehow. "Good, cause I might be able to make it worth your while." Janelle smirked as she walked backwards a few steps. "Hmm I want to go out. I wouldn't mind going dancing but I doubt you would want to do that."

Janelle turned around and walked, she made sure to accentuate the walk in a way that would make her bottom attractive and definitely had a good swagger to it. She looked over her shoulder. "I will be five minutes." She headed behind the counter cashed in her tips from the day. She dropped money in the till before putting away the dishes she had said she would. Looking over at the other girls she smiled sweetly and the manager nodded her head. "Thank you," she said as she rushed to the back and picked up her things pulling on her sweater and stripping off the apron, at least her skirt was nice.

Walking back out she headed over to Cassius. "So you ready to go?" She asked ruffling her hair before adjusting the strap of her bag on her shoulder.

"What's going through my head is completely for me to know and for you to be privileged to later down the road," he said brushing his hands to hers before she took the money from the table. Cassius was never the type to just skimp on a payment because he knew someone. In fact he was likely to pay more based off their friendship than anything else. "As you should," he chuckled watching her walk into the back.

There was one thing you could say about Nelle, she had legs that went on for days. They were long, lean, and lovely. He enjoyed looking at them, but he wasn't about to inform her of that. He knew she was sashaying for his benefit, Cassius was a great many things but a fool was not one of them.

"Ready," he said fixing his tie as he grabbed his coat and headed for the door. Opening it, Cassius allowed her to exit first before following suit. Once out in the cool air, he allowed himself a couple deep breathes. "So what is this about dancing? Do I seem like the type to be light on my feet."

"If you are hoping I will beg for that knowledge you won't get it," Nelle laughed a little but it faded as his hand had touched her as she picked up the money. She hated that when there were only slight touches it always sent this feeling through her, she hated that it did. Janelle couldn't allow her to fall for Cassius as she knew it couldn't get her anywhere.

As Janelle walked towards him she smirked as he got up and she stepped out the door with him not fair behind. She looked around Diagon Alley and it appeared like the crowds weren't as busy at this time of year as usual. She turned to look at Cassius and smirked. "No, but I want to taking you dancing all the same, though we could go elsewhere and do other things." Janelle said as she walked close by his side.

"You know I would love nothing more than to hear you beg darling," Cassius was anything if not a flirt. He enjoyed to play about with the females very much and even more enjoyed their company at the flat he kept in Diagon Alley. Why bring a crazy bird to your estate when you could just show them your flat instead. It was fully paid for anyway.

He could be a gentleman if he wanted, how often he wanted to be one was the question. It wasn't often, he could be downright cruel when he wanted to be. It was his darker side, the side he showed those he found inferior or infuriating. Either way, it was not a pleasant sight. "Take me dancing, that seems more like punishment than pleasurable at any rate."

"I am sure you would," Janelle rolled her eyes at him Cassius was such the flirt. Janelle had to admit that she did like the flirtation though. Janelle was a sucker for a guy that could flirt and Cassius definitely could, but she was far to proud to let him know he got under her skin.

"I will be sure to make dancing a pleasurable experience." Janelle said with a smirk. She had over heard that there was this dance club kind of hidden away in an area of London. It of course was a wizarding world establishment but only those who knew about it could get there. Word of mouth was its form of advertising. "If you don't want to go though we can do something else," she said with a sigh.
