TITLE: Knowledge Base
TIME/DAY: January 16, Morning
TAKES PLACE AFTER: Everything so far
CHARACTERS: Aaron ; OTA
WARNINGS: Defaults

There was only one thing that Aaron hated when searching for someone and that was when the trace of the person he was looking for went cold. Queens held no sign of the man he was aiming to capture and threaten for using his ability in a public manner and hurting a few others in the process. He typically didn’t enjoy doing this “lone avenger” fiasco, but perhaps it was the knowledge that a six year old kid had been caught in the cross-fire that set the ex-army sergeant off.

Aaron knew he worked better with a team – a group of operatives. He liked having some guy with database knowledge that knew how to work some kind of tracking system, having access to files of every single system packet around the city of New York. It was easy finding someone back at Black OPS. He didn’t have to rely on his normal instincts when it came to tracking since someone else always did that for him. He liked having some nerd behind a computer doing it with Aaron having the “muscles” of the group.

He was always the firepower and never the brains.

Aaron was seated outside some café, not even caring to know which one since he visited all of them. A fresh cup of joe was located to his right as he searched the newspaper for any knowledge on who he was looking for. He didn’t have a name, but if he caught something familiar in print then it was possible that he could start there.

"Do you want to sit on it?" He grinned, nodding his head over to where his thing of beauty was parked. "That's only if your mom is fine with it. I wouldn't want you doing anything she doesn't want you to do. Isn't that right, mommy?" Aaron couldn't hid his smirk, letting a small frown twist around his lips as if he was the one who needed to beg.

Dean's green eyes sparkled with wonder, mouth falling open before glancing over to Delilah. "C'mon...please, mom." And this would be him trying his best to use 'puppy eyes' on her. Delly pursed her lips together, pretending to put real thought into it as Dean bounced up and down. "C'mon...please."

"I don't know..." She glanced over to the man, giving a little smile. "Do you think I should let him?" Dean looked over to him, nodding quickly and muttering 'please' under his breath.

"Yes, I believe you should let the wonderful man known as Aaron allow your adorable son to sit on the motorcycle. If he happens to ride off with it then mommy has to buy me a new one out of her many, many paychecks!" He was only joking since the keys to the bike were neatly kept inside his back pocket, giving Deliliah a swift wink as he lifted her son up by his armpits, easily being able to pick up the four year old.

"Boy, you're heavy. You eat tons, don't you?" He snickered softly as he gently placed the kid down on the motorcycle, his eyes falling down on the kid's face to see his excited expression.

So...mystery man's name was Aaron. She shook her head with a small laugh as she gets to her feet, hands on her hips as Dean sat forward on the motorcycle; pretending to rev up the motorcycle. "Mom! Look! Mom!" He glanced over to Delilah who laughed a bit.

"I see it, baby boy." She walked over to stand shoulder and shoulder to Aaron and crossing her arms as Dean made motor sounds, pretending to be driving the motorcycle. "You just made his day...twice." She smiled a bit, glancing over to him. "So...wonderful man known as Aaron, I'm Delilah." She smirked a tiny bit.

"So, Delilah. What's the name of your adorable son? Wait! Let's let the little guy say it. What's your name, kiddo?" Aaron crouched down so he could be at eye level again with the kid, waggling his brows as he motioned over to his mother. "I'm sure you're old enough to say your full name too if you wanted. If you like I can tell you first just in case you're shy - which I'm pretty sure you're not, tough guy."

She crossed her arms a bit. Now he was pushing her buttons and probably knew it too. Especially with the brow wagging, charming sort of way he handled her boy. "I'm old enough!" He defended himself with a pout, crossing his arms. "Momma calls me Dean. But my name is Marcus Dean." Dean? Shy? That was like saying the sky was red.

Aaron had a feeling he wasn't. The kid had some kind of spunk in him and Aaron could see Dean growing up to be a good man one day. All he really needed to stay on that path was listen to the heart of his wonderful mother and of course listen to his own.

Two things that Aaron never did when he was growing up.

"I'm sure momma calls you that for a good reason." He ruffled Dean's hair, making it all messy and ruined as if the kid had just rolled out of bed.

Dean moved his head away from the assaulting hand, making a slight face as he looked up at him. "Momma always has a good reason." She was his mom. She could do no wrong in her son's eyes. He smiled a tiny bit as Delly walked over, picking the four years old up off the bike and giving Aaron a grin.

"Thanks..." She grinned a tiny bit. It wasn't like she had anywhere to be. She set her son down before patting his back. "Go finish your brownie." She didn't want to carry too much stuff on the bus and didn't want to waste food. Dean ran over to their table again as she grinned a bit. "You're good with kids."

Aaron was actually surprised about how good he was with them. Aaron never had kids and made sure to keep it that way. He knew how to play it safe - how to use protection with girls he knew less than a day if and when he decided to take them to his bed for an easy "stress reliever" as he liked to call it. He didn't leave any connections; no ties that could be traced back to him. He wasn't the kind of guy who made mistakes like that.

"I guess I just love kids." Whether that just concluded in Aaron being a great father someday, it just seemed likely to be brushed off later on in his life. He didn't have any room for a family or if he wanted to corrected himself he just didn't have the time.

Again, it seemed that he never did stuff he wanted for himself.

She crossed her arms for a moment, smiling a tiny bit as Dean tries gobbling up his brownie. "Baby boy...slow down while you eat." She called out with a soft grin before turning to look over to Aaron. "Loving kids is a good thing. When...you're not Michael Jackson." She gave a shy little shrug with a small laugh. Yeah, that was a lame joke. Great going Delly.

"Sorry...that was really lame." She smiled a tiny bit, hiding her laugh.

"Sorry. I don't have a place called Never-Never Land that I'm secretly taken small children to. My sexual assault file on children is clean. I can assure you on that." The thought of Michael Jackson just made Aaron shiver. It probably had more to do with how someone who was black became white.

"You have a good kid there. It's probably a real personal question, but I couldn't help but notice that a father wasn't in the picture. He might be, prove me wrong and slap me in the face if you must - just don't hit me so hard."

She laughed at that. "I'd hope not. Major turn off right there." A smirk played along her lips, glancing up at him and balancing herself on the balls of her feet. At least he was like every normal man when Michael Jackson was mentioned. Any...normal man she had met before.

She frowns a bit. There it was. The question. "He isn't." She deadpanned, working her jaw. Hell, he didn't even know about him. And she's pretty sure it showed on her face. "I try my best with him...that's all I can ever do." She's pretty sure he'd moved on by now anyway.

"A kid usually needs a fatherly figure around. I read something in a book that it helps them become a man and what not, but I know people who didn't have parents and they grew up decently - hell, they grew up to become good people despite not having authority figures. Life usually teaches people a thing or two about what's right and wrong - parents just prepare them to take it in and mold it into something they see fit."

Good words to share, at least he thought so as he took a look over at Dean. Aaron had a sad look on his face, as if he came to a good fork in his own words. "Despite the dad-thing. You'll do fine, heck, you're doing a great job so far. He looks incredibly happy and smart for his own age."

She gave a small to that; go figures. "I know it would help him, but..." She crossed her arms for a moment, biting her lip deep in thought. "...It's complicated and I'd rather not have this conversation with someone I just met." Just to make herself more comfortable, she'd rather get to know Aaron before she let him get away with saying that. Not that she wasn't entirely disagreeing with what he said.

Brown eyes find the look on his face for a moment. "I do my best with what I got." She grinned a bit before grabbing a piece of paper from her purse and handing it over to Aaron. "New York's a big city...and you seem like someone who needs it." It...being her cell number. Delilah grins a tiny bit before heading over to where Dean was and helping him out of the chair; holding the little boy's hand.

"It...was nice meeting you...wonderful man known as Aaron." She smiles a bit, repeating what he said before with a small wink as Dean smiled up at the man.

"Yeah...it was. You should come over to our house...I have a WII." Which was currently the little boy's favorite thing in the universe.
