Notable Ex Flames:
Karen McArthur; Karen was Myle's first kiss. They were both in the 8th grade at the time, and it occurred at a party her parents were throwing to celebrate the holiday season. It had been an awkward affair for Myles, until he and Karen had slipped away and started playing "Truth or Dare." They carried on a short but very passionate puppy-love relationship for almost six months before they realized that they were simply too young to be tied down - which felt like a very adult decision at the time. They kept in touch throughout high school and remain friends until this day, both of them coming from wealthy families and understanding each other's "roots." Karen is now married and has two young children that Myles has met once during a trip back to Atlanta. They talk mostly through email/Facebook/etc.
Madeline Stevens; Junior year of high school, Myles asked Madeline to the homecoming dance and the two began dating promptly after. They lost their virginity to each other the night of their Junior Prom. Myles considers her his first "real love" and the two of them broke up when Myles made the decision to go to Brown instead of Princeton, as the two of them had tentatively planned. She had never forgiven Myles for his decision to choose Brown over their relationship and they broke up right after high school graduation. They have not spoken since, but the last Myles heard she was also living in New York.
Gracie Patterson; Gracie represented everything about Myle's college experience. She had long, wavy blond hair and made extra cash in college by selling beaded hemp jewelry in the quad and the dorms. She introduced Myles to his first taste of marijuana, and almost got him fired from his RA position as a result. He saw her as a complete and total free spirit, and the two of them had enjoyed things like camping, playing guitar and writing songs, and laying in bed naked all weekend. She personified what he wanted to be, and she left his life as quickly as she had entered it. He had caught her in bed with some other dirty hippie. It was at this time he shaved his beard and reverted back to a more mature and focused perspective. He cannot help but look back on their relationship fondly despite how badly her infidelity had hurt him. He has no idea what she is doing now or where she is.
Darlene Atkins; The waitress Myles has most recently slept with. There are no attachments other than their casual relationship at the diner, but Myles does feel fondly for her. He has no desire for their relationship to go further - though she is self sufficient, she is not as educated as Myles and their conversations reflect that. She is extremely interested in him, and Myles is oblivious as to how into him she really is.
Notable Current Friendships/Relationships:
Jonathan Montgomery; Myles' older brother, six years his senior. Part owner of a high-profile entertainment law firm in Los Angeles, which represents some of the biggest A-Listers in Hollywood. Followed in his father's footsteps and is the obvious favorite son. Myles does not hold as much resentment for Jonathan as he could, but he still does not speak to him unless forced to at family functions and/or holidays. Myles has never asked Jonathan for a favor as long as he can remember and does not intend on starting now.
Samantha (Montgomery) Kensington; Myles' younger sister, only two years younger than him. Married to Tom Kensington, Myles' oldest friend. Tom and Samantha had Myles' blessing from day one, and was happy when Tom married into the family officially. Samantha teaches high school English at a high-end Atlanta private school, and moonlights teaching one class at a community college. Myles found out in December that she is three months along with her first child. She is due in the beginning of June.
Tom Kensington; Myles' oldest friend, and only a few months older than Myles, though he often acted younger. He had been considered a "bad influence" on Myles when they were younger but it was obvious soon enough that they were equal influences on each other. They had one of those long-term friendships that made them closer than most brothers were. Although Tom stayed back in Atlanta and went to University of Georgia (his parents were not as wealthy as Myles' were), they stayed in touch and both Samantha and Tom had come to visit New York City as well as Myles staying with them when he was back in town.
Frank Parsons; Another writer on the staff of The Scope he had been friends with both Virginia and Myles throughout their relationship, as they had all started their employment around the same time. He was in his early thirties, and the person that Myles most frequently hung out with outside of work. Frank was single and a bit of a womanizer, which usually served to amuse Myles because he was always privy to the stories of "What happened last night..." Frank was kind of the office loud-mouth, who spoke his mind even when it was inappropriate, but that attitude translated well into different columns for the magazine, and Myles generally appreciated his sense of humor. Frank hates Virginia because of the fact that she left Myles and he voices this openly.
