Narrative: Killer Wasps, Chaos, And Jackalopes On The Loose
WHO: Galad, Aktamun, and EVERYONE in the dining hall (Reactions post as you please)
WHEN: Friday, Nov. 17
WHERE: Dining Hall
It was the last day of school for a week and there was an air of excitement among the students and even the staff, who would also be enjoying the break from teaching. Even Mr. Pheres was there, taking a break from his nursing duties in the infirmary where sick or injured students, Pavel among them, were being cared for by his assistant. The staff sat at the head of the large room and the students were allowed to sit as they pleased on the long tables.
Dinner at the Academy was always a formal affair as far as it started at a strict time and everyone gathered together to eat their different types of meals and nutritional needs. This was also the time when the Headmistress would, if needed, announce anything new that everyone needed to know about. Before the meal began, Ms. Menides simply wished everyone a safe and restive break.
The dining hall was a hum of voices. Above that hum rose a higher pitched sound, a more frantic and angry hum that started to become noticeable to even those without sensitive hearing. Staff and students paused. Mr. Kaden stood up, nostrils flared. The hum grew louder and louder until, through the drains on the floor, black wasps began swarming through. Someone shrieked, stung in the leg. "WASPS!"
One moment later, pandemonium erupted in the hall as the air filled with furious wasps.
Galad grinned and slipped into the chaos, making his way to the doors as students flooded out. Some of the more brave types remained behind to try and fight the swarm. Gods speed to them, Galad thought as he followed a large group into the hallway. He had to hand it to Aktamun. When he'd promised to create chaos with the hive Galad had procured and placed under the dining hall, Galad didn't think he'd do such an excellent job at it. Almost too excellent. Someone back in the hall screamed in pain as several wasps stung at the same time. Well, chaos was chaos, Galad dismissed easily enough.
At the right moment, he broke away from the crowd, disappearing into a side hall. From there he made his way to the Jackalope pens.
By the time the angry swarm of black wasps was contained in the dining hall, the entire litter of Jackalope kittens had broken free. Most had raced for the woods, but some got lost in the winding hallways and a couple had managed to get into the dorms.
Galad silently merged with the group that had gathered out on the lawn, calling out for his betrothed. Mr. Pheres was tending to painful stings and other injuries that had come from the chaos. The students who worked with him in the infirmary were assisting, including John and Felicity and Galad joined her and gave himself over to running for supplies for them. He kept an eye out for Aktamun and when he spotted the boy, gave him a brief nod. The chaos they caused to achieve their goal may have been a bit over the top. He hadn't meant for anyone to be hurt, but mission accomplished.
