WHO: Jack Cavanaugh & Leon Vincent (Jeon)
WHEN: April 1 [backdated]
WHERE: Mr. Cavanaugh's Office
Leon was a few short months away from finishing his first full year of dual enrollment with the Academy and Harvard and it was crunch time. While not especially studious or all that interested in becoming that way, Leon did maintain his grades seemingly effortlessly most of the time. The college courses, he found, were not all that more challenging than the advanced courses he'd taken at the Academy, despite what everyone said about college vs high school. Leon kept up and did well, able to quickly solve problems and reason his way through most subjects.
But there was one area that Leon struggled in and that was his interpersonal skills. Surprisingly, being sired by Andrei had helped with that, making Leon more upfront and straightforward, while sacrificing some of his meticulous patience. Leon had drafted a letter to the science department at Harvard to get into a special program for the fall and he needed a second referral letter. Leon already had a letter from Ms. Menides, and Ms. Hallowfen had been one of the letters he'd used to start at Harvard last year. Now he needed someone else, someone who knew him, and since that pool of people were all centrally located at St. Margaret's and nowhere else on earth - striking out Haiti and the Cherokee Nation from the list - he had gone with the next most obvious, albeit risky choice.
Mr. Cavanaugh and he had had a hit and miss teacher/student relationship for the past five years. Leon hoped he'd agree to write a letter, because the rest of the options for referrals were bleak. Certain teachers Leon wouldn't even consider if they were the last options on the planet. He'd rather transfer universities than have to rely Dallas Gurule to write him a referral letter.
Mr. Cavanaugh kept office hours in the morning and that was when Leon stopped by. He wore his hair down like usual and raked it back from his face before knocking on the partially open door. Leon's jacket was a replacement for the one that was ruined during the Otherworlder attack. He didn't like it as much, but beggars couldn't be choosers. The rest of his ensemble was also his usual: the faded henley tshirt, worn jeans, and boots that were so well used that he'd had to replace the laces a dozen times and now they didn't match. Barclay called his look an "alternative" style. Barclay also called it looking like he was homeless. Leon didn't have an opinion either way and didn't give a second thought to fashion.
"Mr. Cavanaugh?" Leon nudged the door open until he spotted the male banshee at his desk. "Can I talk to you for a mmm... minute?" Leon blinked as a strange sensation washed over him, leaving him unable to turn away or move a muscle, like he was spellbound. As an ex-witch, he knew the feeling. As a boy in love, he knew the other feeling that swept through his heart.
