Speed Dating
Who: Anyone who signed up for the Speed Dating
When: Friday evening
Where: The Raconteur

Bushara had reserved the entire Raconteur for the event, and with the help of Ben and a few others she managed to set up a number of tables for the event. She had asked one of the more organized students from Sphinx to help her situate the tables in a way that would allow all of the participants to meet with the desired gender without causing any confusion.

She had been kind enough to purchase a drink voucher for everyone, but after the first drink they would need to purchase their own. The tables were set up with enough distance to provide a feeling of intimacy for each table. There were note cards in the shape of hearts on each table for people to exchange numbers or love notes.

One of the employees had gracefully volunteered to be the one in charge of keeping time and ringing the bell when time was up just in case Bushara wanted to participate for fun. The lighting was dim, and the music was smooth to help create the atmosphere that was needed. She hoped everyone would have a great time, and possibly even find some couples going home together.

Insecure was one way of describing Ellie, but she was trying to work on that. It wasn't easy, especially after everything she'd been through. She still kept stepping in it the more she tried to open up, too. That didn't help. She was getting better, though. Two steps forward, sometimes one big step back. Trial and error. Sometimes she despaired she'd never get it right.

Kane's reassurance was nice to hear, however. A very pleasant change from being told to get her nose out of a book, stop researching everything. Ellie truly did enjoy learning, especially about the supernatural world. She had an idea of what she'd like to do with her life, and that would require a lot of research.

"Ya are?" She sounded surprised then grinned. "Thanks! I think you might be the first person ta say they enjoy talkin' books." Which made him all the more appealing to her. Eek!

And then her blush was right back on her face, but it was unapologetic, as was the little laugh she gave. "Aye, I canna argue tha'." Some of the best sleep she got was after she'd been with Sorin or Dana...or both. Now her thoughts were right back in a naughty direction and she cleared her throat before taking a long drink of water.

Kane on the other hand was the very picture of confidence. He was completely at home in his skin, in his personality, in everything that he was and wanted. It was yet another piece of the puzzle of why his powers weren't always necessary. People were attracted to that type of certainty. It was why people who crossed him had trouble getting a rise from their jibes; he was someone who sincerely didn't care about other opinions. He was who he was.

"I can't say that I've done a great deal of reading, but we are at a school. I like mystery novels, generally, but considering how fascinating other races are, I could get interested in reading about them." One never did know when learning would come in handy too, to hold details over someone's head. Knowledge was power, of that he was certain. Secrets were his trade.

"Do let me know if you ever want help with your nightmares. I'm always happy to provide." Kane's offers were good, but he also didn't take rejection personally. Sex was easy to come by. He felt like teasing at the moment and his dark eyes were focused, warm. "If you don't mind me being blunt ...." he started in that drawl of his. His voice softened so the people around them wouldn't listen in. "I can give you pleasure for hours."

	"If you like, I could recommend some books in the library," she offered with an eager smile. "I havena gotten through them all, but I've made a decent dent." Oh god, his voice. "Sure, I haven't been to the library yet, I really should get on that." Kane may not like being at the school, he'd much rather be home, which he already missed, and he knew his lovers were looking for him. But he might as well get educated while he was there. He did have some minor ambitions for his future that weren't just helping his mother with the business.

He smile was knowing when she shifted on the chair. "Just message me when you're ready." It was a promise, but not a push. It was on her terms now. The bell rang for people to start switching, and he settled back in his chair. "It was a pleasure to meet you, Ellie. Don't apologize so much. You're charming."

	"Let me know when you'd like ta go to the library. I'll give ya a tour an' a list of books." Ellie smiled, but she was thinking it might be a good idea to go back to her room now.
