Thread: Art and Apples
WHO: Teddy Riley and Leon Drumm
WHEN: Feb. 21st [backdated]
WHERE: Cafeteria area
Modern luxuries and amenities were still sometimes marvelous to Leon. His time spent living in the Caribbean country of Haiti, in and among the people and the villages in their humble dwellings in the elements, had taught him to appreciate small things. Things like air conditioning and fresh fruit. That was what he had an eye for as he made his way to the cafeteria after class ended for the afternoon. It was a daily ritual, going to the cafeteria to select a fresh apple from the bowl. Simple as that. He would choose his apple, fill his bottle of water, and find a place to sit and draw. Apples were the perfect fruit, and they were Leon's favorite.
Having selected a red one with a small blemish on one side, Leon looked up and fond an empty table to settle at. He carried a woven bag with a long shoulder strap with him filled with odd things and, as he sat down, the Haitian took it off to lay it beside him on the table. He put the apple between his teeth and bit down, holding it there to free up his tattooed hands to dig inside the satchel for a pad of paper and piece of charcoal that was wrapped in wax hemp on one side. With it, Leon began drawing lines on the paper and took the apple from his mouth with a crisp bite through the flesh of the fruit, chewing as he sketched.
