Thread: Come Out, Come Out
WHO: Jae Song & Leon Vincent, with Micah Kaden
WHEN: Feb 3, around midnight
WHERE: The woods
The last time he'd been out on the full moon, Leon had been forsaken by the gods he'd worshipped all his life and was left exposed for evil spirits to rip his soul from his body. Nothing could have prepared him for that kind of pain, and nothing could have prepared him for what happened next, after Andrei appeared and offered him the only way out of eternal torment.
The last time he'd been out on the full moon, he'd been turned into a vampire. He'd gone out with magic that time, the kind of wards and charms that protected him from being detected by the weres who occupied the woods. This time he had no such protections. This time he knew he would be caught. Leon had already come to terms with that aspect of this venture. Mr. Kaden would smell him as soon as he set foot into the forest and he was probably already on his way, but Leon was tracking, too. He was moving with inhuman speed through the trees, following the scent of the one he was hunting.
Jae had evaded him once already. He was going to see her in her fox form himself and finally identify what she was. With the evidence of her true form right in front of his eyes, he wouldn't need her to tell him. He'd have already solved that puzzle himself.
Leon hadn't always been this aggressive at solving the mysteries that the student body of St. Margaret's presented him, but since being sired, he'd been less patient, less calm and peaceful. He blamed it on him not having other hobbies to occupy his time with. As a witch, Leon had had his magic and his religion to constantly study and practice. He'd been looking forward to his final semester where he'd finally be taking the Expert level magic courses, delving into the deeper mysteries and accessing a whole new plane of his worship that linked him to his ability to spirit walk. He'd even get to start practicing with his voodoo dolls legally, without hiding it.
But now all he had was, what? Religion class? Irritating. Computer Science? Boring. Physical Education? Okay, that was more applicable to his needs with his newfound strength and speed. But Leon knew that while he was lucky to be alive, he'd been robbed of everything he used to enjoy. Almost everything. And there was no one to blame but himself and his lack of faith that had defied the Balance when he was meant to die. Tonight he'd have only himself to blame again, but at least he'd have answers to comfort himself with. No one was ever going to deny him the truth again if he could help it. Leon had spent his 4 years already at St. Margaret's operating within the rules - or mostly within the rules - with minimal detention sentences and now, more than ever, he was willing to recklessly break them to get the answers he sought.
He hadn't told anyone he was planning on coming out that night, not even Andrei. The clock was ticking and any minute Leon knew he'd have a giant kodiak bear literally breathing down his neck. He had to find her fast.
There. He smelled her down by the frozen stream and Leon dissolved into mist, seeping over the snow like a renegade cloud of fog until he rematerialized, clothes and all, directly in the path of the white fox with four tails that smelled like Jae Song.
He didn't speak, just studied her, in awe of her appearance that was like a common animal, and yet so much more. How could anyone ever think she was just a were?
