The attack was sudden and Leon barely had enough time to lift his arm to defend himself before she was on him. Her speed knocked him down and the two hit the snow. For a brief moment before his own survival instincts kicked in, Leon thought that perhaps he shouldn't have come out after all. But hindsight was always 20/20 and never did any good in the moment.
He gripped a tight fist of her stark white fur and twisted away, trying to avoid the teeth without putting his hand or other face or neck in any close proximity. Leon had never been a very physical person. His athleticism ended at running when he'd been human and he'd certainly never had the need to be taught how to fight off a wild animal with his bare hands. He'd always had his magic, some kind of cantrip, some kind of power reserves stored in his tattoos that could be used for defense.
Under the moon, his tattoos were black and dead, not in any possession of magic any more than his heart had a rhythm to it.
"Jae!" He called out, trying to access the mostly calm and collected girl he'd known. Leon had a flash of memory return, the two of them in the stairwell, her trapping him against the wall, smelling him. It was a loss of composure he hadn't seen repeated and it gave him another clue as to what she was, as if seeing her in person hadn't zeroed down on it perfectly well already. He'd been human then. She was tempted by his liver and his heart.
Kumiho.
"Jae, stop!" He rolled and shoved her to get her off, already reaching his feet to sprint and try to put distance between them. He didn't understand. She shouldn't be tempted by his human parts anymore. He wasn't technically human. Why was she attacking? Before he could get anywhere, Leon felt her teeth dig into his wrist where she'd managed to catch him and he was jerked back down to his knees with a cry as the pressure tore into his tendons and bones. Leon's fangs were out now and he snarled at her.
