Came into possession of a paranormal object (repost from LJ)
Heheh..Ok, bad pun. But really. One of the students at the college I work at is a learner in the arts of Hermetic Magick (High Magick) and was given this object by someone. He knew it contained a spirit as the woman who gave it to him also gave him the spell to awaken the spirit in the object and told him she did the spell. The object is a simple inexpensive department store ring so I had doubts. Neither CM or I are stupid enough to perfom a conjuring spell on a paranormal entity we know nothing about. *le sigh* There's a sucker born every day, right? Well, since I *am* quite interested in things of a paranormal nature and have dealt with such things before, CM gave me the ring since he had no use for it. Right now it's in time out buried in salt. I'll explain in a minute. With it, another item was given to me. A pendant that is said to hold a Jin. Yeah. On that one, I think he got taken. I feel nothing in that object. However the pendant is quite lovely and I think I'll cleanse it for him (just in case there actually *is* something attached to it and though I doubt the story on that one, one can never be too careful).
Anyhow, so I look at both items and of course when I hold the ring (the spirit is pretty strong in that one) I'm all like "oooh shiney!" LOL! I show it to my husband. I then put the items on the table. The ring was sent in a purple bag and the ring was wrapped in dark blue cloth (the stone only). I didn't put it back the way I found it, just laid it on the table. My bad. *grins* So I feed Elora her supper, and give her a bath. By that time it's time for coven class, so my student comes over. We chat, I also chat to my mother-in-law for a minute. As my student and I go over to the altar (near the dining table which holds the item) I start talking about her role in Ostara coming up. She's going to be handmaiden. :)
Anyhow, the lights in the dining room started to flicker. Pretty strongly. You could hear the buzz. It didn't effect the nearby computer, the microwave in the kitchen (and any tiny surge will pop the clock on that. I got an electric feeling dancing on skin and it didn't take a brain surgeon to figure out what it was. I raise an eyebrow and tell my student about the ring. She holds it and get an immediate noticable electric shock. She holds the pendant and...nothing. Which confirmed my first thoughts as she is quite sensitive. So, I put it back just how I found it as I got the feeling the way it was wrapped contains it somewhat. And I put it back on the table and we continue class. A few minutes later the light thing happens again. We ignore it and finish class. I say goodnight to her and bid her to drive carefully as it started to rain. I then begin making dinner for my husband and I and he is feeding Elora her before bedtime milk. The lights do their thing again. I sternly tell the object that I'm busy and I'll examine and communicate when *I'm* ready. Not before. It will *have* to be patient. So again, all is quiet for a little while. Just before dinner is served, it happens again. I'm getting annoyed at this point. I'm not dinner yet I tell it. Wait and I'll get to you. Not before. Now stop playing around. The lights flicker in response as if to say no, now. I sternly tell it to stop or I'll bury it in salt and do anything with it at all. *That* made the spirit behave. I got no more trouble from it.
So, dinner is done and Elora is put to bed. I didn't want her around it when I started to communicate as I didn't yet know what I was dealing with. So, finally I'm ready to set down. I move my altar to the dining table. I cast a protective circle and call upon the elements, the God and Goddess, and my spirit guide to be present. yeah. I wasn't playing. Once centered and properly protected, I begin. Autowriting too. I was reluctant to use the Spirit Board. Not sure why, just didn't think that was going to be a good way to communicate at first. Also, I didn't know waht I was dealing just yet. Didn't want to have to bury my spirit board in salt and get rid of it somewhere because of an unruly spirit. I like my spirit board, thanks. So autowriting it is. Now, why would I want to that as I keep insisting precautions? Autowriting allows the spirit to take over the person doing the writing. Well, I am able to do autowriting without given over control of my person to another spirit. I share, but I still remain control of my mind. I never give over full control. So anyway, I get a name and some babble about a child when I get it to tell about itself. I'll communicate again with it tonight. Right now I have it buried in salt however since I didn't want my husband to be plagued with activity today. I have a feeling it would sense my husband is also sensitive and pester him. The energy is like an impatient child wanting to have attention. Anyhow, CM wanted me to keep the object, but I think I'll pass it on to someone else whom I know would have a interesting time with it. Reminds me to email Draiga now. :) </ljcut>
~edit - I had to remove it from the salt. I was told it could destroy the spirit. Good to know if the spirit isn't nice after all. To contain a spirit, instead put it in a ring of salt. My bad. I'll work with it later and post an update.
