Jack had agreed to meet up with his father now things had calmed down enough that he was happy to leave Amy. Yes he knew damn well his girlfriend could handle herself, but it didn’t stop him worrying.

It had taken all he had to wait for his father to actually show up before he grabbed some food. Apparently chaos worked wonders for his appetite.

	"Ah, right," he nodded. It wasn't as alien a concept as it first sounded - he'd clearly become an islander when that didn't make him freak out, but rather made more sense. Waking up not knowing who or what life was going to be every day...is going to be, it's a hard way to be a kid, especially with no protection, but she gets it, and loves me anyway," Jack replied. Ernest was surprised to hear him say he wasn't lovable, and there was probably a slight flicker across his expression, although he held in the need to contradict for the moment. It was more important to listen. There was plenty he failed to understand, especially because his Jack had had a very different life, far away from this place. Sometimes he was guilty of forgetting the differences.
