Overnight, or so it seemed to her, the entire island had become blanketed in snow. It must have fallen in flurries so thickly that it landed and froze on the ground. Even the main streets in the city were becoming white blankets of freezing clouds. Sook hated to leave Adele but she was worried about the bakery too, remembering how the pipes easily froze in the old building. Not knowing if she remembered to tell Ned about maintenance, Sook had visited and looked everything over before packing up some spare food to take to her daughter.
Her fingertips were almost purple by the time she trudged through the snow of the park, taking a moment to clear her mind and look at the bright whiteness. It was there she saw... something... on the edge. It looked like a tent thing pieced together. Surely nobody could still be living in there in this weather?
Her booted feet dragged through the snow as she walked up to it, "Hey, is anyone in there?" she called. Her nose was pink and cold, even though she wzs wrapped in two sweaters and a thick coat as well. "Hello?"
