Bucky had been humming Christmas songs since one of the guys 107th had started it. He missed them now that they were gone. They had been a great bunch of guys. And he knew that he probably wouldn't see them, again, until it was his turn at the pearly gates. But he didn't let their passing bite into the cheer they had planted. "...to hear sleigh bells in the snow. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas..." He flowed back into humming the song, as he pinned up the very last bit of holly. It hadn't been all that long ago that he finished the roof. And it hadn't taken all that long to furnish the place. Pulpit was simple, and so were the pews, though he had added kneelers. And a confessional booth. Even if they didn't have a priest to confess to, someone could always go in just to confess to God. Stepping back he took in his work. And while he knew it was a sin, he couldn't help but feel a little pride in himself. |
