WEDDING THREAD
Though the wedding was simple, Mary and Stevie had been working hard with their families over the past week to make sure it'd be beautiful.

When guests first arrive at the park they'd be greeted with a small set up to send them in the right direction. They'd first walk through the reception area, where there are tables set up to drop off any food people might be bringing with them, in between the one holding Sookie's beautiful cake and one holding coolers full of food to be grilled later and lots of drinks, even some with edible flower ice cubes Mary had made up. Across from those there are lots of mis-matched tables and chairs, covered in jars full of bright flowers-which would be a theme running through the wedding. They reminded Mary Ellen of the years when she and Stevie had been young, playing in Peggy's garden together.

Once through the reception area, the ceremony is set up a little more formally, with flowers again lining the aisle, dark wood chairs set up to face a simple floral and birch archway where the two of them would wed. There are no programs, but hanging on the back of each chair there are 2-3 paper cones filled with more flower petals, with instructions printed on the paper that the petals should be thrown both as Mary Ellen walks down the aisle with her dad and again when the newlyweds walk back down after the ceremony.

Almost as soon as the ceremony is over, the grill would be started and all the food and coolers opened up. Guests would be told to help themselves whenever they like for their meal and once everyone seems done eating some of the tables would be pushed aside to form a make-shift dance floor and the music would start up louder. Then, after the ceremonial dances and a few more songs, the cake would be cut and shared all around. The party would go as long as people are interested, with Mary Ellen and Stevie being some of the last to leave.

Along with the food and music there would be other things gathered around to keep guests, especially the little ones, entertained. One table would be covered with butcher paper with crayons and markers, there would be a basket full of bubbles, a twister game, and every table would have a few I spy cards with a note to send all the favorite pictures to Mary and Stevie at the end of the day.

Peggy was bursting with pride as the gathered guests, all chairs occupied to watch the happy occasion. She'd wondered for the longest time if there would be drama in the lead up to the day but Mary had made everything so perfectly simple, natural and beautiful that it made her so damned proud. Her son had chosen well for a wife.

She stood under the birch archway, trying not to sniffle as Mary walked up the aisle with Dean on her arm. Peg winked at Stevie standing there, or jittering really. It was even a standing room as a few extras had come along without a chair to sit on, but it didn't matter really.

All that was needed was for Peggy to clear her throat. "Welcome, everyone, to witness the union between Mary Ellen and Stevie. I can think of nobody who balances each other quite as well as these two standing in front of me now. Love, as a wonderful man once said," she glanced at Bucky and Steve, "Is like coming home. If that is true, then these two have always been at home with one another...." she hoped she was doing well.

"Who gives of this beautiful woman to be married to this man?" she said, giving Dean his cue.

Mary had been jittery the night before, but somehow talking to Stevie-even though he'd been drunk-had calmed that. Something about it all just reassured her how much they loved each other.

She took a deep breath at the door of her dressing tent, her dad already at her side. She smoothed her hands down the front of her dress one last time before she smiled up to him. "Ready?" she asked softly, resisting the urge to bite at her lip. She wasn't wearing a whole lot of make up, but she didn't want to mess up what she was. She'd left most of her hair down, except where she'd pinned the left side away from her face and added the flowers Rarity had made with the dress.

Having chosen not to have a ring bearer, flower girl or bridesmaids-pretty much everyone she would have chosen was too young or hadn't been born yet, Mary knew she'd be walking first, with Hope waiting for her at the other end. Her bouquet was a little wild, having been picked by the tiny Steve and Bucky, with bits of help from Little Stevie and Mouse, but she held it proud, with her arm hooked through her fathers. As she walked down the aisle her "something blue" would be visible on the back of her dress, in the form of a patch she'd cut from the sleeve of one of her mom's old shirts and sewn on in the shape of a heart.

She knew the flower petals were coming but it was still a little bit exciting when they started falling all around her, making he smile wider and laugh softly, even though her eyes only left Stevie for a moment.

By the time she reached her soon-to-be-husband she was a little shaky, her eyes wet but not yet overflowing. She sniffled listening to Peggy, leaning on her dad a little bit, only looking away from Stevie to peer up to her dad with Peggy's question.

Dean had was pretty sure he shined as bright as a new penny. He'd shaved, his hair trimmed and combed, and he was tucked into a tuxedo. He was fidgeting with his tie as she came out. But he stopped the moment she did. His jaw actually dropped. He'd made that. She was half him. And she was absolutely beautiful.

"No, but I think your mother-in-law would be angry at me if I threw you over my shoulder and locked you away." He fought the tears that glittered along his lashes, as he held his arm out to her.

He strolled her down the isle, he couldn't help but notice the man she was going to marry didn't take his eyes off of her one bit. He even seemed to bounce on the balls of his feet. Excited. Like a puppy.

Stevie was so happy. He couldn't help himself. He knew he was grinning like an idiot. But there was no way he could wipe it off. No way he would ever. He missed any looks he was getting from anyone else. Even if he didn't look at her he could hear his Mother's words. Even if he didn't look at anyone but Mary when Dean handed her over to him.

He didn't even turn his eyes away when Dean grumbled, "That's me."

Mary turned for just a minute, looking up at her dad. She stood on her toes to kiss his cheek and put her hand at the base of his tie where he knew the patch she'd made him was. "Don't forget Daddy." she whispered before turning back to the Peggy and Stevie, stepping forward to take her place next to him.

She shifted her bouquet to one hand and held the other out in his direction, peering up to him with a smile.

Peggy couldn't help but beam a little brighter, knowing that Dean seemed a little reluctant to give Mary to Stevie. She just adored the way they seemed so carefree, no worries, lives hectic and perfect all at once.

"Now that Dean's released the handcuff, we can get started," she said with a wink to the man in question, smirking. "When two people, or perhaps even more, come together in love, a new family is born. Here on the island, we are all family who have come together in love to celebrate the marriage of Mary Ellen Winchester and Stevie Grant Rogers...."

Peg looked at them both to make sure they were paying attention, "Mary, repeat after me... I Mary Ellen Winchester, take this man before me to be my lawful wedded husband, through his sickness and his health as well as my own, until death parts us after a long and happy life together.."

Dean had to swallow the lump in his throat after the little reminder. Not that he'd ever forget. "You either kiddo." He caressed the heart she had put on her dress, before he stepped back out of the way. It didn't mean he didn't make a face at Peggy when she teased him. It wasn't anything that screamed maturity.

Stevie fought the urge to push up the sleeves of his jacket. Instead he took her hand. Then his Mom started saying all the legitimate stuff. And he couldn't resist the bouncing again. The grin was goofy. But the look in his eye was the loving Golden Retriever look he always gave her. The only thing he lacked was a panting tongue and a wagging tail.

He couldn't hardly wait for his turn.

Mary felt her dad's touch to the patch on her back. It was hard not to miss her mom, or the rest of her friends and the family she'd made, at moments like this. Whenever she'd imagined this day they were all there. But deep down she liked to think she could still feel them there, one way or another.

She held Stevie's hand and tried not to giggle as he started bouncing again, stepping just a little closer so she could let her shoulder bump his with a grin. She tried to be a little more serious once Peggy started in, though her wide, nearly-giggly smile wasn't going anywhere.

On her cue she took a steadying breath and repeated the words, "I Mary Ellen Winchester, take this man before me to be my lawful wedded husband, through his sickness and his health as well as my own, until death parts us after a long and happy life together."

Peggy fought down a giggle and tried not to clear her throat as she turned to her baby boy and said "Stevie, repeat after me... I Stevie Rogers, take this woman before me to be my lawful wedded wife, through her sickness and her health as well as my own, until death parts us after a long and happy life together."

He almost squealed at his Mother when she started in on his part. "I Stevie Grant Rogers, take this beautiful woman before me to be my lawful and treasured wife, through her sickness and her health as well as my own, for the rest of my life." He knew he embellished, knew that he didn't quite repeat what she said, but he also knew that he was very much like his father. He would never love another woman the way he loved Mary Ellen.

Her son was so damn cute, Peggy decided and cleared her throat before moving on to the next part. "Who keeps the rings?" she asked, looking at them both. They were minutes away from being married, and she was so excited.

"I have them." JR was holding both rings in trust for the bride and groom. He was decked out in his dress blues, freshly cleaned and pressed, shoes polished to mirror shine. The uniform looked sharp, and he'd mostly recovered from the bachelor party the night before.

The enthusiasm everyone was showing was infectious and he couldn't hide the large grin on his face as he held out the rings for the couple.

"Hey, you didn't forget!" Stevie teased, not that he thought his best friend would. Even though he was just as drunk as he had been the night before. He stepped back and got the rings from JR. Patting him on the shoulder, before stepping back to his bride. There was no hiding the bounce in his step.

Rolling her eyes at the pair of them with a twinkle in her eye, she chuckled, "Goodness sake..." she whispered with a little mirth before turning back to the happy couple. "Mary Ellen, place the ring on his finger..." she said softly. "Do you give him this ring as a symbol of your commitment, love and loyalty, as long as you both shall live?"

While Stevie was getting the rings from JR, Mary handed her bouquet to Hope so her hands would be free.

"Yes!" Mary answered Peggy almost too quickly, blushing a bit and correcting herself half a second later, "I do." She took the ring and carefully slid it on to Stevie's finger with a wide smile, her eyes bright as she looked up to him.

Hope found it impossible not to grin at the pair. They were sweet enough she was sure she'd leave with a cavity or two. She proudly held onto the bouquet, and reviled in Mary's joy.

Dean found use for the pocket square, instead of decorating his pocket he used it to covertly wipe away tears. And prepared himself to be teased unmercifully if anyone caught him doing it.

"Yes!" Stevie pumped his fist as soon as the ring was on his finger. "Caught me now baby, there's no escape." He teased even though he hadn't put the ring on her finger yet.

"Sweetie, we're not done yet. One more time..." she whispered softly to Stevie, chuckling at his unbridled joy. "Stevie, place the ring on Mary's finger..." she said softly, waiting for him to comply before going on. "Do you give her this ring as a symbol of your commitment, love and loyalty, as long as you both shall live?" Two more words and they'd be married.

"Oh right." Stevie grinned, he carefully took Mary's hand and slipped the ring onto the proper finger. "Yep, she's mine now." He used more than two, but looked at his Momma. "I mean I do." He batted his eyelashes at her. Knowing he was misbehaving, but he was pretty sure he couldn't be anymore happy than he was right then.

Mary couldn't hold back anymore, giggling hard enough to shake her shoulders, waping away at the tears that slipped out as she did. She held out her hand once Peggy had spoken again, starting to bounce a little bit herself once the ring was on her finger, just waiting for the next bit that would make it all feel really real.

Now that they both had said everything and the rings were exchanged, there was only one thing left to say. "By the power vested in me by the British Army and the Strategic Scientific Reserve, I hereby declare you to be husband and wife. Now kiss her like you mean it." she said with a little grin.

Stevie actually squealed when his mother gave him permission to kiss her. He scooped Mary up in his arms and didn't reserve anything. He kissed her with everything he had. And might have hammed it up just a little bit for the people watching.
