Amy's smile started to fade, wondering what her mother was thinking. "I..I'm not stuck up. I think most people think their parents are the best. And I love my name. It's pretty." She thought Amethyst was prettier than names than seemed not to have any special meaning.
"No, no cutie mark. When I was younger, like four or five, I used stickers to give myself pretend cutie marks on my hip. The only time anyone would see them was when I was in my swimsuit. And then, they'd fall off in the water. I never minded. I would just get more stickers." Amethyst glanced down at the couch, wondering if she was a disappointment to her mother. "No, not really. I can grow plants in my garden really well, even when they're not in season. I think of it as my magic. But it's not real magic like yours."
