Who: Rarity and Amethyst
When: evening, yesterday
Where: Fitzwilliam House on the beach
What: Amethyst comes home
Closed

after sending out her spree of messages to her friends!letting them know what sort of games were being played on her--and here she thought she had gotten by mostly free--Rarity paced around the house. Magic flung itself about as she tidied up the already sophisticated, spotless home. She ran a tight ship, as Amethyst no doubt knew. Everything had a place and that was where it went. Rooms were to be cleaned after playtime and tidied before bed.

Now, what? She had a child in her and a child coming to see her. This was so awkward. What did you say? Ah!

The best, perhaps worst, part for Rarity was that she had no idea she was carrying more than one child. A daughter and two sons, actually. Fate was cruel and brilliant.

Amy stopped at the grocery store and filled a bag with as many kiwis as she could. She took another bag and filled it with other foods that she thought pregnant women might crave. The only other stops she made, on the way to her home, were to look at her reflection in the windows of the buildings she passed by. She wanted to look as close to perfect as possible; her hair had to look just right and her clothes couldn't have any wrinkles. It would be the first time her mother ever saw her. She knew her mother would love her no matter what, but she wanted to make a good impression.

When she made it to the house, she stood outside and stared at the door. It was so familiar and at the same time, so different. She couldn't just walk inside as she would have in 2033. She knocked as best she could while holding the grocery bags. "Hi." She called out with concern in her voice. "You're not passed out, are you?"

A knock. Oh, Celestia. Get the door, get the door...

Rarity swallowed and moved toward the beautiful french doors, opening one up. "No," she said in that Trans-Atlantic accent of hers. "I have not passed out. Though, I did spend much time on the lounge." She gave a small, nervous smile as she stood at the door and looked the young woman over. She was not sure what she had expected. She was not sure what she wanted. Rarity didn't exactly have a detailed life as a human, she did not understand human genetics. She did not look anything like either of her parents, nor did her sister to their mother or father. Rarity and Sweetie Belle looked more alike than anything else.

"Ah, won't you come in?" The pregnant woman stepped back. While she was only three months pregnant, to their race she looked closer to six. She was due to give birth on the last day of April.

Amethyst wasn't sure why she felt nervous. This was her mother and her home. Just a few years in the past. She gave her mother a small smile. "Good!" She exclaimed. She never would have forgiven herself if her mother had passed out and fallen down. Not that there was any dirt on the floor of the immaculate house, but she wouldn't want her mom to run the risk of getting hurt.

"Thank you." Amy nodded at the invitation to come and walked inside. She removed her boots and coat, putting them away neatly, out of habit. She took a few steps towards the kitchen before stopping herself. It wouldn't be right to take the liberty of putting away the groceries. Her mother wasn't used to having her and her brothers around yet. She set the bags down on a nearby table instead and looked at her mother. "Can I...umm...May I give you a hug?"

Rarity stepped aside when the woman walked in and just watched her. Her eyes, bright and cyan, trained in on the blonde. Who was this girl? She didn't recognize her and yet she could see her husband in her, see herself in her. It brought tears to her eyes and she had to put a hand over her face, a white handkerchief with violet initials R.F. and a trio of blue diamonds stitched into the corner. She sobbed big and joyful tears into the kerchief as her free hand idly shut the door.

"Of course," Rarity said over her crying. "I'm so sorry," she then managed to whimper. She was highly hormonal, it was bound to happen. On top of that she was still, naturally, struggling with Art's disappearance. He may as well have died.

Amy was used to seeing her mother be emotional. She was the same way herself. She wrapped her arms around her mother tightly the second she said it was okay. "You don't have anything to be sorry for! You're my Mom. The best Mom ever." She murmured and loosened her grip to a more gentle hug. She didn't want to squeeze her unborn self and siblings too much. "I love you so much. Everything's okay. It's better than okay! It's great! It's perfect! I got here just in time to help you with all the baby stuff." She was being vague on purpose, not wanting to mention her brothers yet. She let go of the hug slowly and gave her mother a small smile that she hoped was reassuring. "It's all good."

"I feel there must be something wrong about you raising yourself!" Rarity whined as she did not release the girl. No, she could not go. She was her daughter and she was Art's daughter and that was really what meant the most to her.

She missed him so much.

"Am I really a good mother? No, don't tell me. I will figure it out on my own." Rarity hummed and finally did let her go, hands moving to Amethyst's shoulders, then cupping her face.

"You are so beautiful," she said through quaking lips that flattened themselves as she tried to not burst into tears. "I...you're so lovely and I have not even given you a name..."

She bowed her head and cried, again.

"You'd still do the raising. I'd just help." Amy explained. "I still need a mom too. And you're better than good. You're the best." Amy knew there were many good mothers on the island, but none of them could compare to her mother in her mind.

"Thank you." Amy was never once to turn down a compliment, even from her crying mother and even while she was trying not to cry herself. She reached out and gently ran her hand through her mother's hair, hoping she'd look up again. "I am lucky. I get my great beauty from my gorgeous mother. And you have given me a name. Or you did and you will."

Rarity nodded, though she did not feel good about the idea of her daughter witnessing her own birth. Birth was messy. Babies were messy. She was a beautiful, bright young woman who should not have to take care of a baby, least of all herself as a baby.

"I'm nervous to ask what that is," Rarity then confessed as she took another deep breath to moved away to go sit on one of the plush, classy sofas. She sat, then lounged back, taking a deep breath, fingertips touching at her lips in anxiety.

"I'm sorry. I do not know what to say, darling. I..." She really didn't know what to say, where to begin, though she had hundreds of questions to ask.

"What what is?" Amethyst asked and sat down on the opposite end of the sofa. She wanted to be close to her mother and she wanted to give her space. This was so complicated. "My name? It's Amethyst. Most people call me Amy."

"It's okay. I can always talk." Amy said, hoping a little conversation might help put her mother at ease. "Do you want to know about me? I go to school. I don't know if that's been built yet. And I have a wonderful garden with the most beautiful flowers. I guess my garden's not around yet either. Oh, I help at the boutique sometimes. And on Aunt Applejack's farm."

Rarity fluffed a pillow behind herself and relaxed as best she could, a hand over her pregnant stomach. Was it strange for Amy? Probably. It had to be. How could it not be? If she had met her mother when she was pregnant with her she would have simply died. And then she did.

"Amethyst? OH!" she welled up in tears. "That is the best possible name!" she cried out, other hand on her cheek. Her hand was decked out in a stunning wedding ring--Art spared no expense, regardless of the island having a lack of money. It was beautiful, huge, and perfect.

"You enjoy gardening? That's lovely. Do you have a cutie mark with flowers?"

"It is the best name! Because it was chosen by the best mother!" Amy exclaimed. She wondered if she should mention her brothers. Her eyes briefly settled on her mother's ring and she thought of all the changes her mother had already been through. Amy decided that maybe she should take things as slowly as she could.

"I did have a floral cutie mark when I went through a door to Equestria. It was a bouquet with white hydrangea, lilacs, lavender roses and baby's breath. I had a friend take a picture of it." Amy replied with a fond smile, remembering one of her most favourite doors. She had heard it wasn't the first time there had been a door to the pony world. "And I had the most beautiful deep purple mane and tail."

Rarity smiled as her brows raised. She said 'best' a lot, particularly 'best mother' and she could not help but wonder if this little girl was hiding something or simply being overzealous in selling herself to her mother. Rarity was sure under any capacity she would love the girl. Despite how many mistakes and annoying things Sweetie Belle had ever done she still loved her sister. Likely, no matter what they did, Rarity would love them more than that.

"Oh?" the woman smiled and moved on from the thought. "But, you do not have one now?" Rarity tilt her head slightly the other way. She had her cutie mark since arrival, a pretty tattoo-looking stamp upon her lower right side-back. "I suppose being Therian you would not have one...what a shame...Do you have any magic?"

Amy's smile started to fade, wondering what her mother was thinking. "I..I'm not stuck up. I think most people think their parents are the best. And I love my name. It's pretty." She thought Amethyst was prettier than names than seemed not to have any special meaning.

"No, no cutie mark. When I was younger, like four or five, I used stickers to give myself pretend cutie marks on my hip. The only time anyone would see them was when I was in my swimsuit. And then, they'd fall off in the water. I never minded. I would just get more stickers." Amethyst glanced down at the couch, wondering if she was a disappointment to her mother. "No, not really. I can grow plants in my garden really well, even when they're not in season. I think of it as my magic. But it's not real magic like yours."

The woman blinked, tilting her head slightly. "I never said anything of the kind, sweetheart," Rarity said as she sat up slowly. She was up and then turned and leaned over, reaching for Amy's hand. "You are beautiful, Amethyst. I could not be happier to have met you...be having you," she smiled and kissed her baby girl on the temple.

"Tell me more about this garden of yours? We'll make a nice little plot right on the main land just for you once the weather gets warmer."

Amy's eyes lit up at the chance to talk about her garden. "My garden was so lovely. It started out small, just a few geraniums in the sun and hostas in a more shaded spot. Then we had a long spell with no doors and I decided to try making some food to help out. I started with Swiss chard because it looked so pretty. I just kept adding to my garden, more veggies, more flowers until it was so big that some of the islanders built me a greenhouse! My favourite part of my garden was the spot where I grew lavender. It smelled amazing." She paused. "I guess I get to build it up again! It's exciting!"

"That sounds very nice," Rarity said as she sat there, listening intently to her child. Her mind tried not to wander as she focused on the words Amethyst said but she could not help wanting to think other things, questions she wanted to ask. She smiled and nodded at the girl, looking over her face. They had a lot in common.

"It will be even warmer out, soon. We'll make you a new garden to play in," she told her daughter. "How does that sound?"

"That sounds wonderful." Amy took in her mother's expression. She wasn't crying now; maybe this was the right time to tell her about her brothers. "Mom..umm. How would it sound if there were more than just me playing in the garden?"

Rarity had taken to looking down at her hair as she wrapped a bit around her finger, considering the garden and if she might ask Steve and Applejack to help her set it all up. It sounded like a good idea and she was idly pondering the size and such before brought back to the conversation.

"Hm? Oh, are your friends here, dear? I've seen some new arrivals from Izzy's family."

"I'm glad," Rarity said with a smile, hating to think of her daughter all alone taken back from the future, though they all seemed to be coming back at strange ages.

She wanted to be careful but she was in shock and somehow couldn't stay seated. So she paced. Rarity paced until there was practically a ring burned in the carpet--there wasn't, but the point was made.

"Brothers? Two boys and a girl?" she swallowed hard, hands shaking and she wrung them out to calm herself, eyes looking around the room. She looked at Amy, then around. Back at Amy and around again.

"Oh...That's...That's wonderful news. I..." she swallowed again, paced some more, looked around and at her daughter. "Did you ever meet your father?" she asked with desperate hope.

Amy watched her pace and wring her hands. She couldn't help but think she'd made her mother worry about the future too much. "Yes. It is! Very wonderful news!" Amy said, happy to finally get a glimpse of the reaction she wanted. She paused and shook her head. "No. I never met him in person. But I felt I knew him from what you told me about him. And from the things that you saw in me, and Jasper and Onyx that you said reminded you of him."

Worry? Sure, but everyone worried. Rarity could have been far worse off than this. Really, she was just shocked beyond all belief. Three? Boys?

"Those are their names?" she asked with a swallow as she turned toward Amethyst, reaching for her little hands. Or at least hands that were smaller than her own. "Onyx? Jasper?"

When Rarity released her daughter she nodded and sighed. She wasn't really ready for a teenager and all of their troubles; she could hardly deal with Sweetie Belle.

"Oh, do you know your aunt?" she asked. "Or Opal?" she probably shouldn't have been asking about people from the future but now she was curious. She had sons, a daughter, but no husband? At least they had a big, happy family. That brought her some solace.

"I met them through a door to Equestria." Amy replied and then thought to remind her mother of their island family in case she felt sad Sweetie Belle and Opal weren't there. "And I had so many Aunts on the island. I would help out with Auntie Applejack on her farm. And Aunt Maryanne helped me with being a panther. Of course, you helped me most of all with that. And there was Aunt Lacey, Aunt Isabel and Aunt Sook whenever we wanted to go out to eat. So many Aunts."

"Oh, well, that sounds quite nice," Rarity said with a nod. She wasn't sure she fully understood how such a thing worked. Did the girl's back home remember? Or perhaps she did not introduce herself as Rarity's daughter, only simply that she was.

"Well, I'm glad we have plenty of family. It's quite nice to hear," she then said, following up with another nod. So much was happening but it wasn't as scary as she thought. It was terrifying and yet...easy.

"What now, darling? Should we go make you up your room?"
