So the scenery had changed – the climate had not. The weird thing was to go out into the snowy streets and not get nipped by a chilly burst of wind, or the sting of cold against your face. There was snow ..and the temperature was still rather mild. That was more than a little confusing – but at least it meant that you didn't have to pile on the layers and woollens just to stick your head out the door. Which also meant that she'd be less anxious about taking Eve out with her, her little girl wasn't going to get chilled or cold – yet she'd get to see snow. Playing on her mind was her discussion with Mitchell, but she pushed it out of the way to spend time with her child, plus give George a little time to do- well, whatever he liked. Perhaps he'd join them at some point. With Eve strapped in the stroller and ready to go, Nina walked down the street and headed toward the church ruins, the little park surrounding it was quiet and pleasant a nice area just to wander – perhaps she'd stop by Maryanne's after, get something to drink? She pushed on and stopped by the entrance to the ruins, and then rather suddenly, noticed something not so far away by the tree. There was an animal in the distance, a deer it looked like – except it was glowing. Well it's nose ..was glowing. “What .. in the-” Nina stopped and squinted. Yep, wherever the animal turned it's head, it cast a red glow about. It didn't seem too fazed at all by their presence, it certainly wasn't flighty as a normal deer either. A reindeer more specifically, with the thick brown and white coat. Rudolf. Absolutely absurd. “Look Eve.” Nina crouched by the stroller, pointing. “Look can you see?” Eve was generally too little to understand much of anything asked of her and she didn't really even look in the direction Nina was trying to indicate, but she was getting very interested in colours and shapes and her smiles and expressions were less accidental mimicry and actual response now. Though she wasn't quite focusing on the deer yet. Currently more distracted by her mother's hair being near enough to reach, Nina ended up taking Eve from the stroller and crouching down with her, so that she'd mostly have the sight ahead to focus on. Perhaps it was the bright red shining nose that caught her eye, but she seemed to focus rather suddenly. That was when the animal started to tread slowly over, it's head low. At first, Nina was somewhat worried, a wild animal headed for them – but it's four-legged pace was a slow, easy amble – it didn't look fearful or aggressive, so Nina stayed put. It was a little intimating, but only in size. The hoofed creature had all the body language of a beast at complete ease, anyone could see that. “Rudolf then, is it?” She felt as ridiculous saying it as she did thinking it and as the animal approached them it sniffed them very gently; still seeming very innocently curious and sweetly placid, as though it was quite used to people. Eve by this point making soft, happy gurgling sounds and reaching out her little hands to try and touch the animal's furry muzzle that cast the red, beacon-like light. |
