Mary Ellen looked nearly as bad as her father did. Peggy was incensed at the situation as she pulled out boxes of food. "Hello sweetheart." She said softly, taking out some plates and dividing up roast chicken, potato salad, and roasted courgettes. "Okay, let's get something straight here..." she said, "You," she pointed to Dean and then to an empty chair, "Sit down so I can fix up your hand."
Peggy grabbed the hospital tray and set down a plateful for Mary Ellen, "And you, eat something and I'm not letting you move until you finish it." Her tone was serious but kind.
