Mary didn't want to make him talk more than he needed, she was sure it hurt and was trying her best not to make him feel that any more than necessary. She started with the water and a soft washrag first, washing away as much of the dirt and debris and fluid as she could from the surface. "I can't...I don't know enough to take care of it completely, but i can get it clean enough to wrap so you can shower...if you want. You won't be able to use it but it won't get any worse. The doctors should be up in a few hours, they can set it and clean it out properly." she explained softly, setting aside the rag after a few minutes. She picked up the tweezers next, carefully, gently picking out any debris she could reach, setting it aside on a gauze pad on her tray. There was probably more underneath the already-scabbed bits but she didn't want to remove those yet, especially since he wasn't on any pain killers. And while she knew that pain was probably what he was going for, she'd hate herself if she caused more than necessary.
Once she was satisfied there wasn't anything left, she used some sanitized water and gauze to clean it off one more time, then dabbed on some antibiotic ointment as gently as she could. She wrapped it up next, making sure all of the cuts and scrapes were covered well enough that they could make it through the night. "Do you wanna shower?" she asked him, "I brought you some of your stuff from home. Toothbrush, razor and things. And some clean clothes, if you don't want to wear a gown. I'm going to need to go to the pharmacy for a minute."
