Jo was all but crushed, her spirits down, her heart rendered all but useless. Her stories had been considered fairy stories by a big man behind a desk. What did he know? He hadn't even opened her portfolio. Take it to the woman's magazine, indeed. She jerked open the door to the boardinghouse, with a bit of a huff. She was snapped completely out of her brood when she didn't find the receiving hall, but instead a road. "Great Jehoshaphat!" She exclaimed as she looked around the doorway she stood in. "What?" Jo questioned the great nothingness, stepping back through the door, glancing about the drab book littered hallway. "What in Sam hill? This can't be." Clutching her things she stepped back out in the street. She lifted her gaze up to the skyline, and stood in awe of the great buildings around her. "Beth will never believe this." She whispered softly. |
